Mine has a short
|
Time owned: months
|
When I got it I loved it. It felt good and allowed me to sit back and use my mic on a boom. Then after about two hours use my radio kept going into transmit by itself. I thouht the problem was with my radio but then I noticed that when I moved the grip to the left or right the transmit light went on. I ran my fingers over the wire and found a spot on the wire that if bent caused the radio to go into transmit.
I was mildly amused at this as Heil touts its Heil wire and yet there is a short in mine. How this could happen escapes me as I would think that the two wires inside are insulated and therefore should not short.
Anyway I now have to spend more money to mail it bn back and wait for it to come back.
Other than it breaking after two hours it fits the hand well and feels good.

Hands off my microphone!

Time owned: more than 12 months

The HS-2 is a nice alternative to the microphone's PTT switch - especially if you were born with an itchy trigger finger that likes to quick-key.
It's a light-weight pistol-grip that's comfortable to hold, and keying my Heil mikes by "remote control" has become second nature to me. Now, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Excellent product!

Having bought the HS2, I was more than impressed with the build quality and general layout. Felt like a fighter pilot evertime I pressed the switch. Before I had bought the HS2 I had been using the VOX on my Ft897D, however I found that if I dropped anything on the desk, moved the wrong way or had to sneeze, cough etc, it would open the mic. Yes I know that you can turn down the mic gain and so forth, however when the phone went off, it was quite embarrassing when it went out over the local repeater! HI! A must have I would say, easy to use etc. 13 oz pressure it perfect! Can't understand why anyone would give this less than 5/5. Heil products have yet gain set the standard!

Very ergonomic. A pleasure to use.
3, 4, or 13 oz. to squeeze the trigger. If you can't do it, use VOX.

Easy PTT

Time owned: 3 to 6 months

I estimate the trigger pull on mine is around 3 to 4 oz.
The grip is like a sub compact 9 mm. It seems to leave the pinky finger half hanging. I would have preferred it to be about 1/4 inch longer or shorter. No big deal. It's still a 5 in my book.
It seems well built. I don't notice myself using it at all. I unkey a lot so it's the next best thing to VOX.

Very Easy to Use

The pistol grip and easy to push switch are a pleasure. I have had mine for quite some time now with no problems. It appears to be reasonably durable. I like the straight cord although a coiled cord version might be a nice alternative. A previous reviewer complained that it was difficult to push the trigger. I think he needs to get down to the gym and work out a little. This switch is smooth and easy.

I really like this hand switch and can only find one fault with it. It should have a coiled cord. With my Heil Pro headset on and this hand switch in service it seems i spend more time untangling the cables from my feet and legs rather then talking. Some people prefer the straight cable and others like me prefer the coiled cable. Hey Bob,, how about making this an option when ordering. Thx.
