I liked mine  Time owned: more than 12 months
Very functional no-frills handie talkie from the late eighties. 5W out on hi power with 12V battery (a real knee-slapper when hung on the belt!) or 12V extrenal power. Ten memories. 440-449.995 MHz coverage. Not a wide-band scanner-style RX like modern handies, so this one is less prone to intermod from pagers and such.

Only real issue is that the side panel which contains the battery latch is flimsy. I once had about ten as spares.

I also had the FT-209 and FT-109 (2M and 1.25M, respectively.) Same comments apply to them. Looked pretty geeky to have them all hanging off my belt. That was when I was younger, before my waistline expanded. Would pull my pants down now!
