What can I say  Time owned: more than 12 months
that hasn't already been said about this excellent software
Thumbs up to Simon and Peter for giving everyone such a wonderful program. I've spent hundreds of dollars on different logging programs over the years that didn't offer half what HRD does for free not to mention the different radio's that they have to keep track of. These Guys really understand the true spirit of Amateur Radio.

Great program!!!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've tried many logging software programs, and this one seems to work the best for general logging. I've only scratched the surface, but it's already overcome some issues that I might have had with other programs, such as inputting qso's from a paper log from an old callsign to be uploaded to LoTW...the program handled that task just fine. Saving logs is easy, and the rig control is absolutely wonderful. The only trouble I'm encountering is simply a difficulty with the program switching to TOR mode when I switch on my 500Hz cw filter, but I don't blame that on the program at all...and that's no big deal anyway, since I can always modify the qso info after the fact. So 5-5 all the way...

Great piece of software  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I have tried many different programs. I wanted something with decent rig control, not just logging. Among about 10 programs I tried, there were two that stood out: DXLab and Ham Radio Deluxe. Both perform well. DXLab e.g. has memory banks where you can store frequencies and settings. Ham Radio Deluxe didn't seem to have a feature like that. But it does. It's called "Favorites" and it does the same and more. The Ham Radio Deluxe interface is beautiful to look at. It is very easy to control your rig, much can be accomplished through the use of your arrow buttons on the PC-keyboard. It takes a while to discover how really well devised the interface is. All the features are there.

So DXLab is good. Ham Radio Deluxe is even better. I also have a Macintosh and use MacLoggerDX on it. It is a pretty good program too, but not as good as the two mentioned above. And it costs money. There is just not much to choose from for a Mac.

Bravo!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I've been using HRD since 2003 without a hitch. It's run on an old Windows 98 machine, ME, and now XP and I've had zero problems.

There is a relatively small number of hams who rise above the rest to give us all something incredibly useful...and Simon (and Peter also) are among that group. Their software is in a class by itself, something you'd expect to pay hundreds of $$ for, and they share it with us for free.

In four years I've still only managed to scratch the surface of all the useful features of this software.

Works For Me  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Been using the HRD program for about two months and have never even had a glitch in the program. I love the logging portion, especially its tie-in with the mapping feature. I don't know how I ever got along without HRD. Its the greatest!!!

Locks up computer  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I love all the features of Ham Radio Deluxe. The log book has many good features including the loading QRZ data into the log. However, the progam keeps locking up my computer. I have to reboot my computer to get out of it.

Convinced... I plan to use this great feature soon!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I agree with all the other (not surprisingly positive) reviews here, the whole suite is outstanding! I haven't done anything with the logger yet, but plan to as soon as I get a few rig installation issues completed. I've used the satellite part and LOVE it, and watched the demo radio version of the PSK31 stuff (still trying to learn about that mode). Thanks to the generous team who wrote it and keep it free for us. On that note, though, I do see on their site, a way to send a donation to help defray costs, and that's a wonderful way to say "THANKS guys". I plan to donate very soon.

Excellent software.... and it's FREE!!!!!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I've been using HRD for about 9 months or so and I really like it. Luckily I wasn't licensed too long when I started using it so it wasn't a major task to transfer the contents of the logbook. I looked at a couple of other apps but HRD beats them all hands down... plus, it's FREE!!! Use it... It's the best there is!!

New Version 3.4 makes Handling Nets Easy!!  Time owned: more than 12 months
The New Version 3.4 of Ham Radio Deluxe Logbook (HRD) is out. It was released on Saturday. If you're already running HRD Logbook, depending upon the vintage of your version, you may find a Check for Updates link in the programs pulldown Help menu. Otherwise, download the Full version of the program (includes the PDF User Guide) from the Ham Radio Deluxe website at: http://www.ham-radio.ch/kits/HRD_v3.4_b1241/HRDv034b1241_Full.exe

The latest version of this Free software has vastly improved Net Handling and offers Three (3)concurrent Add Logbook Entry (ALE) Screens.

HRD Logbook's Net handling aspects are great, but they are not obvious. And, as many HRD users never even read the PDF User Guide, some helpful tips and insights about how to use HRD's Logbook are offered for those who conduct or merely wish to log net check-ins.

For a more detailed version of the following be sure to see: http://forums.ham-radio.ch/showthread.php?t=4532 on the Ham Radio Deluxe User Forums where Terry G6CNQ has provided a very thorough step by step approach with screen shots.

Nets checkins are Logged using HRD Logbook's Add Logbook Entry (ALE) dialogs. Three (3) of these ALE dialogs are now usable concurrently. Each has a double right angle button on it's lower right corner [>>] which expands the dialog and displays Advanced content. In the Advanced portion the Log Tab displays a table of the Logbook records where the Last 100 records may be displayed. The first column of this table is identified by an exclamation point ( ! ).

For nets, simply enter check ins and add them to the Logbook records using any one of the three ALE dialogs. Thereafter you will see them listed in the Logbook portion of the ALE. In this list, highlight a station entry and click in the first column to select one of three (3) icon markers which you may use to designate Net Status for that station in any manner you so designate. Each subsequent click will change the icon marker and the 4th click will clear the marker. There are also Copy and End Now buttons which make marking records already entered in the Logbook easy for stations checking out, or re-checking back into the net. And you may also edit records by dbl clicking on them or using the Edit Button.

I have been using HRD for well over a year and this net logging system for several weeks, (as it was included in public beta versions before the release of version 3.4) and it really works very well.

Hope this helps.

Rob - AA6A
