Revived my Kenwood TS-440-S
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
|
After many years of faithful service, my TS-440-S "died" on me. A friend referred me to John for help. He was able to offer some suggestions over the 'phone to bring it back to life. When that didn't work, I sent the radio to John to check out. Not only did he get my rig working in a timely manner at a reasonable cost but, even took the time to redo a shoddy repair that had been done prior to my acquisition. The quality of his work is outstanding. This man is a perfectionist. I will not hesitate to use his services again and will refer someone to him with confidence. My 440 is back on the air working better than ever. Thanks, John, for a job well done.

Excellent service and a very nice person.

My Kenwood TS940S had an intermitting display. It would cut out after the rig was on for about 10 minutes. I explained the problem to John. He told me that it needed to have his standard rework of solder joints on several boards. John has serviced an older Kenwood TS830 for me in the past and the work was excellent. I took the 940 to him for an overhaul. I also had him install wide transmit and receive filters, a CW filter, do some audio mods to improve the quality of the sound, and install a PIEXX CAT board. With my Heil Gold Line mic this rig has the classic Kenwood sound. The work again is fantastic. The rig sounded very nice when I brought it home. I added a GAP Hear It Now DSP module to the audio out which is then fed into a Kenwood SP-940 speaker. This thing sounds like a Hi-Fi set. I waited to list this review to try out the functions and see how it would act over time. No problems so far. All functions seem to work perfectly. John lubed the antenna tuner, set the voltage on the IF, and removed the rubber backing on the board. No heating problems, very stable and reliable. He also replaced the bulbs in the display. Overall excellent work, thanks John. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

High Quality/Professional Service
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

My 920 had been experiencing low power output of @ 60 watts. I searched high and low in hopes of finding someone that knew how to service Yaesus correctly. I found LPCwireless and gave them a call, talked to John the owner and explained the
situation to him. Luckily John is a 35 mile drive from my QTH, I met John, we talked alittle and i immediately realized that he knew what he was talking about and he knew Yaesus.Told him i was in no hurry to get the 920 back, got an email from John 2 days later saying my 920 was done and it was ready for pickup. Upon arrival at John's he explained to me that he found low output power, he aligned the tranmitter section and the 920 now has 110 watts output, he found loose/non serviceable connectors in which he replaced as well as a bad potentiometer that he also replaced as well a replacing the Lithium battery. he also went over the entire radio. For everything that John did his service charge was more than fair, Yaesu would probably had charged atleast 3 or more times the amount.
I got to try my 920 after waiting a fews day for the Florida Thunderstorms to let up, the results of John's service to my 920 was amazing, all reports back to me were strong signal and audio, i was easily punching through the pileups, could not do that before. My 920 has never preformed so well.
John is a true professional who does nothing but high quality work, his prices are very fair and he stands by his works.

Excellent service and attitude

My 767 started drifting on receive. It had very few hours but was 20 years old. I searched "767 repair", found John and popped him an email (Sunday afternoon)with a description of the problem. He replied shortly, described the problem in detail and told me the fix. Anyway, I mailed it to him before I left on vacation. When I returned it was ready to ship back. Fixed, cleaned, adjusted, lamps, lithium batteries, recapped (including 2 meter module. The knob stainless rims even looked polished.
WOW, all for $150. Yaseau would have probably charged that much to turn the first screw.

Excellent Work!

My Yaesu FT-920 stopped transmitting in May of 2008. After I read eham reviews of numerous repair companies, I emailed or called four or five of them based on their ratings and interest in working with Yaesus. Most did not call me back or email me, if at all, for several days. After some frustration, a friend, K4CUB, recommended KI4NR. When I called John, he said he was extremely busy, but would look at my rig. I shipped the rig to John on May 20 and received the repaired rig from John on June 5-a short turn around time in my opinion. The radio works great, his price was reasonable and I will use him again should I need additional repairs.

John did a fantastic and timely repair on a TS-940 PLL Board for me. He diagnosed two faulty components and completely resoldered and defluxed the board. It looks like it was wave soldered. It was aligned and returned to me. It works perfect. He has since sent me pictures of some of his other work. Fantastic. He is busy but highly recommended. 73s Jerry N0XWR

Fantastic, better than expected service

I have had my TS-430S for over 25 years. It had been with me through college, getting married, and having kids, it was more like a loyal pet than a radio. About a year ago it began to have problems with the display and tuning and I put up with it until it finally died. I disconnected it, put it on the shelf and started thinking about another rig. I wasn't in a hurry because the bands weren't very active due to where we were in the sunspot cycle. Last month I started looking around for someone who could repair my rig to see if it was even possible to bring it back to life. I found John, KI4NR through eHam.net. I wrote John an email, not expecting a reply for days. I was amazed when he responded in about 15 minutes. His email was so encouraging about his ability to repair my radio for such a reasonable price that I started looking for negative comments about him... there were none to be found. John is the real deal! He fixed my dead radio to better than original condition and he even cleaned it up. My wife even commented on it's new appearance. (She never saw it when it was new. She met my TS-430S and I six years later.) I intend to tell every amateur operator I encounter on the air about the great job John did for me. He even found a less expensive way to ship it back to me. LPC Wireless is world class!

REPAIR OF MY KENWOOD 930
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months
|
I HAVE JUST GOTTEN BACK MY KENWOOD 930 FROM JOHN KI4NR AND IT IS ASTOUNDING AT HOW JOHN HAS REPAIRED THIS RADIO .
IT WAS A MESSED UP PARTS ONLY RADIO AND DIRTY THAT I RECEIVED FROM AN ESTATE OF A FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS SK.
NOT ONLY DID HE REPAIR IT HE CLEANED IT AND PUT IT BACK IN BETTER THEN NEW OPERATING CONDITION. AND THE PRICE WAS VERY VERY REASONABLE WITH GREAT RESULTS CONSIDERING WHAT HE HAD TO REPAIR.
IF ANYONE HAS A KENWOOD PRODUCT LIKE THE 930 AND 940 THAT NEED REPAIR DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND CALL JOHN HE WILL TREAT YOU RIGHT AND DO THE WORK BETTER THEN ANY FACTORY SERVICE OR INDEPENDANT REPAIR SHOP.
I HOPE THAT I DONT NEED TO HAVE THIS RADIO REPAIRED AGAIN EVER BUT IF I DO YOU CAN BET THAT IT WILL GOING TO JOHN LARRY K1ON

On my TS-50 several years ago and my recent TS850S repairs Once again John came in Tops.. After wasting money and time with another Supposable Kenwood 850 Tech, I sent my 850 to John, and in short order the problem was fixed and the Radio was back better that ever. There is NO dough if you Need Great Service at a Fair price on your Radio get in touch with him and he does go the extra to make it right...Thanks John...

If you need quick service and someone who will make sure your rig is really working when you get it back, don't hesitate to send it to John Bolduc, KI4NR at LPC Wireless - he is a great guy and does wonderful work and gets it out in record time. I have been well pleased will what he had done for me especially with Kenwood TS 430s and Ts 440s - great job, John! --- Dick, WA4WIP
