great  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Dropped a battery in it, switched the yaseu950 over to left handed sending and off to the races. Easy as pie to set up and use. First qso was on 12m into Maine with no screw ups .Below 20wpm I have to pay a little more attention to it but at 20 to 25wpm , smooth and slick. I think this will be the favorite paddle for me from now on.

Machine CW readers  Time owned: months
This is an update. Please be advised that this device is for true CW communicators. No code operators and hams who use machine or computer readers may have difficulty reading morse sent with the P1. Individuality of the operator can still be utilized with this device thank goodness. If you get complaints of missed characters or unknown characters, recognize the capability of the receiving operator and switch to your keyboard if you wish to continue the qso. 73 Pat. To me, it's still a 5 out of 5.

Great keyer for use with Flex-1500  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I received my CW Touchkeyer Model P1 today. I am not new to touchkey techniques since I built the k6bsu unit from a 1982 qst article. I used that keyer for years and used two 1 cent coins for the touch paddle elements. Sumner has taken this to the next level and his engineering and construction acumen is excellent. I am using this with another excellent "Made in America" product, the Flex-1500. The P1 has overcome the problems that I was having with my computer delay time that made it impossible for me to use non-keyboard CW operation with the Flex. I was able to use the P1/Flex combination immediately and I am not getting any RF coupling at all even at 600 watts from my AL-811. Truly a 5 out of 5. Thanks Sumner.

great feel, but causes interferance.  Time owned: more than 12 months
This keyer causes major interference on my ft-817. I tried different cables, and a brand new battery for the key.

Seems to work fine with the base radios in the shack.

Awesome!!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I boought these after I got my P3 circuit board to try my hand at building my own paddles. I had to get the fully assembled model from Sumner because the kits were all sold out.

Sumner is great to do business with! He even made a slight modification to my P1 by hard wiring the cable with a 3.5 mm plug since all my other paddles are hard wired. That was AWESOME!

The paddles work and look great. I popped the cover and inspected Sumner's work. Great soldering job!!

Wonderful CW Experience  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've been a CW op for 51 years now, and a fan of iambic keying since its earliest days. I really love the P1, but I did have to learn not to rest my fingers on it. In a day or two I had it down. After decades of adjusting and re-adjusting all the common paddles (and one upper end model), it is a delight to have one that is always the same!

I've used it as a paddle with my K3 and as a keyer with a TS940. I think the P1 will be my final paddle until I graduate to SK status!

excellent keyer support  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I purchased these paddles from summner at dayton hamvention. I just love these paddles they are totally awesome. As for support on a scale 1 to 10, sumner gets a 15. I had some issues with my hamgadgets mk1 and although not his product helped me work through my issues to get it to work. He responds very quickly to email. I would reccomend a purchase of this product, you wont be dissapointed of his products or support.

Works like a charm  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
My old mechanical paddle had taken several falls at field day and other ham events, it needed to be retired. I decided to give the touch paddle a try. Glad that I did.

My QSO speeds are at 25 wpm and I do not keep my fingers on the paddle, but tend to slap them a little. So it took hardly any time for to adjust my keying style. My K3 monitors my letters and spacing. If I make a mistake now, I know it is me not the device or contacts.

Now that I have it on my bench it begs a question: why should I run a modern transceiver using mechanical contacts, regardless of their precision?

This paddle is very easy to drop in the day pack and equally happy to run on my bench.

Not carried away  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
For some time I had followed the touch paddle story, was intrigued with the novel concept and eventually purchased the P1 keyer and P6 mini paddle. Trying them out definitely was a great experience, quite fun, and it was easy to accommodate a slightly new style. However, it takes some time getting used to the need to have the finger totally OFF the paddle surface to end a character, and at higher speed I tend to get the annoying excessive dit from time to time. (It was mentioned somewhere that good operators tend to make slight contact with the paddles at all times...)

All this is surely a matter of practice, but I miss the slight resistance of a mechanical paddle that 'confirms' the action and springs back on mission complete.

The paddle-operated configuration menu of the P1 came out as awkwardly documented / less intuitive, and easy to get lost inside, compared to those of Logikey and K1EL's WinKey.

Also, I find both the P1 and P6 to be sensitive to RF (in the shack...). There may be something specific and imperfect with my modest station set-up, but when I transmit with more than 60 watts, the paddles get unruly, stop responding and generate random unwanted di-dah combinations, and the P1-keyer enters into a sequence of repeated restarts, issuing the "FB"-response.

I have parked the touch paddles for the time being and stick with paddles from Kent and Palm (mini) to feed either rig internal or K1EL external keyers.

I want more  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I'm still excited about the touch paddle after three months use and have now ordered both a P1 and a P6. The P1 will be used with my old Omni C whilst the P6 is intended for portable use with my little K1. This is the only paddle I will be using in the future. It can't be beaten.
