I needed to move my heavy operating desk, loaded with equipment, so that electricians could install a new circuit for my gear. Four of these small discs installed under the legs of my desk allowed it to be slid out of the way easily, without marring the surface of the hardwood floor. I used a small scissors jack to lift the ends of the desk enough to install the sliders. They come in many sizes and shapes, and can be used under filing cabinets, bookshelves, stoves, furniture, or anything heavy that might need to be moved in the future. I bought mine at a Home Depot, but many hardware stores sell them.
