Great Product
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months
|
I have owned the MDX2600 for over six months and have been more than impressed with it's on-air performance. I use it with a Marshal MXL-990 microphone and ALTO AMX-100 mixing console.
Unlike many amateur market audio (ie. RF speech) processors the MDX2600 does not shape the audio - it just does what it claims - zero to heavy audio compression with no noticable distortion. The expander and gate functions also work very well, giving the on-air impression of a quiet shack, when in fact I have considerable noise around me. The end result is strong loud clear audio.
The Enhancer and Tube effects also work very well and bring some life to my poor old vocal chords. I have often been asked: "What difference does it all make?". I let the listener answer this question themselves by switching between the audio system and the standard MH-1 microphone. Typical comments received off air after doing this: "A 300% improvement over the MH-1 microphone" (Note: the MH-1 is the the standard Yaesu handheld mic designed for the radio).
The only work of caution: make sure you have a good earth system, and be prepared to spend time to setup the unit properly.
