Superb Technician

This review is long overdue (my apologies Matt). I've sent several Icom rigs to Matt over the past several years and have always been completely satisfied with his technical expertise, excellent communication skills and reasonable fees. If you have an Icom rig, and live on this side of the country, I'd strongly encourage giving his Michigan based Icom Service Center a try. I think you'll be pleased.

Picked up a hamfest special $5 Icom R5 that was trashed cosmetically & functionally. Sent Matt the R5 and a new case from Icom. He replaced the case, ear phone jack and fixed damaged traces on the PC board. Matt is a top shelf technician and all around nice guy. Charges were VERY reasonable. 73 de Bob, N2OAM

Sent my 706 MK II to Matt and he let me know what to expect and when to expect it. No surprizes, he did just what he said he'd do. I won't send my Icoms anywhere else. Steve, n0vcu

This is a update to previous review of Icom Service Center in Michigan! A ham's mindset in buying a radio is who will I call if I have a issue with my new radio or even a used one? I had had at least 2 bad experiences with Factory Service with Kenwood and Yaesu!
I sent a Icom Pro 3 to Matt Adrian in Michigan in 2009 for warranty work and found that experience to be completely different from anything I had ever seen in 30+ years of ham radio! Discussed the problems I was having in detail before I ever sent the radio in ! Called me when the radio was done with detailed description of exactly what he found and how the repair went ! Radio back to me within 2 1/2 weeks of sending it in !
I am in the process of buying a new Icom product and needed a little input and his opinion on a couple radios! Matt was glad to give me a little advice on the new products available!
As far as I'm concerned it doesn't get any better than this! This is why I intend to only buy Icom products in the future!

IC-910H
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

IC-910H had no audio out on rear speaker jacks, internal speaker or front headphone jack. Not only did Matt fix that problem, he found jumpers that had not been istalled on the DSP filters. He also tweaked the receiver. He called me to explain what had been done and get cc number. I could not believe the price.(half of what I thought it would be)Received it back at the shack 2 weeks to the day I shipped it to him. After hearing the horror stories of the Icom Service Center, I am glad I shipped it to Matt.

The Best

I have sent my Pro II so many times to Matt Adrian I have lost count. I think the last time was #4. I took a lightning hit on my PC, although the radios were disconnected from antennas and power supplies, the lightning went out thru the serial port card and into both my Icom and Yaesu, I lost my PC control and my RTTY keying on the Pro II, As usual Matt was relatively painless.
This time my rig arrived home before I even gave Matt my CC number, now that is service. Thanks Matt!

756 PRO II
|
Time owned: months

I sent Matt a pro II that has had some very bad luck.First last year during a snowstorm it stopped transmitting,Then this summer before it could be sent in for repair it was hit by lightning took out some other parts i suppose. Then while inspecting the rf-a board i managed to damage it further by breaking off a inductor coil while plugging up a coaxial cable with my big thumb. So i said to myself i had better send it to get it repaired before i broke anything else.So i decided based on what i read here to send it to Matt and boy am i glad i did,Matt was to the point and about 3 week turn around and very quick to answer any questions i had and he didn't mind fixing what i had broke. And let me say this i expected a huge bill at the least 300.00 or so and when he told me the actual charges including return shipping i am not joking i almost fell outta my chair 142.00 was the bill and let me tell you i was shocked beyond belief that he fixed all that damage for this amount. All i can say is if your icom gets sick and you need it done in a reasonable time and charged a reasonable amount please call Matt..He is the man for me in the future for all of my Icom repair needs..Thank's Matt

Fast Service with Excellent Communication

I sent in my IC-7000 for a driver failure. Matt turned it around quickly. He called me at several of my phone numbers and left me a message that it was ready. I called back and he took the time to clearly explain the repair he did as well as the Icom update that he performed to bring the rig up to the latest driver spec. He is a nice guy and his price was reasonable as well. If I have a problem with any of my Icoms in the future, they will be shipped straight to Matt.

Again, Superlative Service
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

Previously, Matt replaced a faulty shaft encoder on my IC-7800, and did an excellent job. Thus, when my old IC-730's preamp relay died (a common problem with the 730), I shipped it to Matt for the repair. As before, the repair was superlative, and he even took care of problems that I didn't know existed. All for a very reasonable cost. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Matt Adrian at SAR Technical Services, Inc. in St. Joseph, MI for any repair work on ICOM rigs. In addition, the careful attention to detail in packing it for the return trip to IL was very appreciated as well. Thanks Matt!

Quality, timely service, and good communications.

My new IC-7000 suddenly went POP and quit working one day while I was just listening to it. I checked the main fuses and power supply, and they were fine, so I called Matt, based on what I have read in these reviews. Matt said to send him the radio, which was only 4 months old, and he would fix it. Well, I got the radio back in three weeks instead of the anticipated four, and Matt said he replaced a faulty internal fuse board and reset the idle current on the finals. I found Matt to be very courteous and he obviously values his customer relations. No brand of radio is any better than the service available, and SAR is as good as you could want. I recommend Matt and his company very highly. If your Icom needs repair, give him a ring. I don't believe you will be dissapointed.
