Outstanding Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I sent my IC-738 for a checkup, and called about 2 weeks later to see how it was going. Matt called back told me what is happening and why the little delay(backed up in work), which was not a problem as I have another radio to use. He contacted me 2 days later with the repair price, which was very fair. Shipped when he said it would be. Great Service

unbeatable  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
For the second time Matt has exceeded my expectations. I sent him my IC746pro, he let me know when the radio got there, when he expected to look at it and when he expected to ship it home. Everything was done right, done on time, and done at a very reasonable time. And besides that Matt is easy to talk to, I can think of another icom dude I tried that really seemed to have the personality of a corpse. Thanks again Matt!

Fantastic Service  Time owned: more than 12 months
Had an Icom 7000 blow the driver board and go up in smoke. Called Matt and sent it in for repair.

The service was excellent, timely, and at a reasonable cost. This is one of the best service experiences I have had as a ham for 40 years.

It's re-assuring to know that there are folks like this still out there who know what quality service means.

Outstanding service  Time owned: more than 12 months
The display backlight in my Icom 746 Pro and the HF power out had both stopped working . I remembered seeing the reviews on radio repair in EHam ,so before sending it out for repair i rechecked them again . After coming to the SAR Technical Services INC. review i gave them a call . Mat the repairman, listened to my problems and gave me complete information about shipping . The radio , along with all the latest updates was completely repaired and returned promptly ( AT NO CHARGE )Return freight prepaid by ICOM . My faith in Icom is restored and my Icom repair service if needed will be sent to SAR Technical Service Inc.

IC-207H Back To Life  Time owned: more than 12 months
I'm adding this review simply for the numbers. It is difficult for a service group to maintain straight 5s in today's marketplace, but Matt and his group certainly deserve their reputation.

As I noted, I sent Matt my ailing IC-207H, which had served me flawlessly since I bought it new. Eventually the rig lost receive audio after being beat around in my old pickup truck, used as a remote packet node for two years, and serving me in my shack at 3 or 4 different addresses around the country. I was sitting on the fence as to whether or not it would be worth it to have the rig serviced, since I had replaced it with a IC-208. Turned out the '207H had a bad transistor (smt of course), which Matt replaced along with the backlight lamps. Great communication and very quick turnaround. I chose the Michigan Service Center based on reviews posted here, and I would recommend Matt and his team to anyone.

The Place for Competent Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Hats off to Matt and his work at the Center. He was great to work with and kept me well informed of the service to be done. To bad other centers can't be this good.

Un-believable Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Greetings from Barbados, I purchased an Icom 781 serial # 27** from it's original owner. After reading many reviews and comments decided to have the radio serviced.
My first concern was finding a reputable Icom service center( there are no Icom service centers in Barbados. Choose SAR Technical Services after reading the 5.0 point rating.
Shipped the radio to Michigan and was immediately informed of its' arrival by Matt. There after I was kept informed on the progress of the repairs. Matt is a well mannered, knowledgable professional. A text book example of "supreme customer service", other companies would do well to emulate his behaviour.
Matt tried to minimise the shipping cost back to the Caribbean after the repairs were completed. The packaging was done to ensure that no damage would occur on the long trip home.
The Icom 781 was returned working like new, with a rather small repair invoice. Shipping cost both ways was five times greater. However the total cost was worth the final result.Matt is a gem in the repair industry.
Just wish Matt was available to do all my repairs for my electronics...refrigerator, televisions etc. A really great guy. Hope to meet you in Barbados some day.

5+ Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Let me add my own "5+" service rating to Matt at ICOM Service Center Michigan/SAR Technical Services!

I bought an ICOM IC-706MKII from another ham (who represented it as "working fine"), only to take it out of the box and find that it wouldn't transmit properly on 2 meters.

Matt took a look at the rig the day it was delivered to him, fixed the problem, and I had it back within a week! When the selling ham quibbled about helping out with the repair cost, I sent him a copy of Matt's work order and diagnostic report showing that it was a problem that didn't just happen "overnight," and the selling ham promptly reimbursed the repair cost (which was quite reasonable, by the way).

You can't ask for better service than Matt offers.

The best that Amateurs can possibly have!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Matt is a blessing for me that is for sure he is honest as anyone could possibly expect from a technical service like he represents he will take his time and discuss any issue that you will have concerning the work that you need done and he normally is a lot cheaper than his quote i really cannot describe in fine detail how happy i was to have him as a repair tech. for my icom radios and i want to thank The Hamstation for recommending him to me. Just a thoughtful note for all that is concerned God Bless 73 N9IND!!! P.S. I have had many diff. radios and the new Icom's with the twin pass band tuning is a keeper.
