ComTekk v1.01

Generally I donít like to brag, but after trying this little jewel out, I just had to. After being a two-way service technician for about 18 years, I was invited to try this program out. With a raised eyebrow, I decided to take it for a whirl. Actually it took me for a spin instead.

ComTekk is one of those little programs that doesnít look like much but in fact has so much potential it is amazing. Imagine if you will, the ability to take a simple laptop computer with you to a mountain site where you want to do a PM (preventative Maintenance Check)and you really donít want to drag out your service monitor from your vehicle. This little program will take care of the generator means quite simply and effectively. What the heck, drag out the service monitor and check the program out yourself.

First of all let us visit and download the trial free version. This is really only the tip of the ice burg. Installation is very straight forward. One thing you may have to deal with is setting up the sound card if it isnít one of the popular sound cards. The setup if you have an oddball card is fairly straight and easy to do.

Now then what I would do is IF (before) you are going to connect it to ANY live circuit is definitely build a pad/attenuation board to separate DC/AC from the laptop (ok Desktop also). This will provide isolation from the devices and aid in helping you match the audio circuits.

Now the trial version doesnít come with all the good bells and whistles and you need to purchase the other additions, but for what is being asked for, is not much for a technical tool such as Comtekk.

The Basic Version or FREE version of Comtekk will provide you with a System Compatibility test, a single tone generator which will generate 20Hz to 5000Hz range either continuous or tone-burst using either Sine wave, Triangle Wave, Square wave. The signals from just the output jack of my computers (I tried them on various computer types and operating WINDOWS systems.) was very nice and clean. However because of the differences in the ground configuration and DC voltages I highly recommend some form of isolation/padding between the device your working on and the computer. You can use the mixer panel to adjust the output.

The standard version includes a CTCSS encoder, sixteen digit DTMF encoder, an audio oscilloscope and an audio spectrum analyzer.

Of course other features are being added all the time. For example also for sale is the ANI encoder, Paging encoder, And Remote Tone.

Non profit and Amateur radio operators do get a substantial decrease in charge.

Although I could write a novel about this, it is easier to have you explore it on your own. The help information is robust and attempts to answer any questions you might have and if that doesnít work then there is the email the author and get feedback from him.

I am very excited about this program and hope that you can appreciate what this utility can do for you.
