I have this antenna on the left rear corner of my '98 blazer on the liftgate. Im using a VHF-UHF HT on it & works well. I hit repeaters on 5 watts 40 miles out (Results may vary ofcourse) but where the antenna is placed & the 5w HT im using i get into the machines from Hudson florida to downtown tampa with no problems. If theres one thing i dont like about this antenna is that it does not flex!! Not recommended for roof mount magnet or a drilled hole for NMO through the roof!! At 62" its tall!! Im getting a full size mobile unit here soon so ill know alittle more about how this diamond performs with a 50w unit. 73s KK4EQE

Great Antenna, with 1 minor defect..

I've had alot luck with this antenna, works
great. It's Only downfall is the base below
where the whip is connected has a tendancy to
wobble,No matter how many times you tighten it.
Turns out the problem is actually in the base of
the whip mount becomes loose, mostly because of
how the big antenna is. You can't really tighten
it,there's nothing to tighten it to.
I ended up,using epoxy to bond the 2 sections
together and that seems to have done the trick.
Propoxy 20 works great for this..
If you decide to do this, make sure you don't
cover the drain hole in the bottom or the
allen keys for the whip. Also,be sure to pack it
in the gap between under where the whip mount is,
That is your trouble Spot.......
