The beam compromise  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I think this maybe the best compromise for those of use who cannot put up a beam and have space limitations.Antenna on push-up mast ,nested at 15 foot, made over 500 contacts with over 100 countries/entities,with good signal reports - if I hear them, I can work them.Assembled in V configuration, it is somewhat directional, all joints etc siliconed, except drain holes. Took antenna down to improve SWR and reassembled with no holes visible,(see manual) and redrilled hole below 20m trap to shorten even further (approximately shortened by 4.5 cm from recommended SSB setting).SWR now <1.8:1 on all bands.Antenna is quieter than my vertical and so far has withstood a couple of storms, but time will tell about its durability.Very impressed so far with its performance.

Very happy with this antenna  Time owned: more than 12 months
I got this antenna in 2008 while living in Puerto Rico (WP4FE) where I used it for few month in straight configuration, It was better that the vertical antenna that I was using before, then we move to Nepal in November 2008 to work as missionaries, and I didn’t use it until July 2011 when I got the License in Nepal (9N1FE) this time I put it in V configuration at 75 to 80 feet height (25 meters) in top of a water tank (you can see a picture in QRZ.com, 9N1FE), with better result, I left 1 hole in the external segment and no hole in the internal segment to get better SWR in 20 meter band for SSB segment. These are my reading with the internal SMR meter of the radio using the LDG external meter and also with a SWR meter in the antenna coax cable giving similar result as fallow:
7.000 1 : 2.1
7.050 1 : 1.3
7.080 1 : 1.1
7.100 1.1
7.150 1.7
7.200 2.2

14.350 1.9
14.300 1.4
14.250 1.1
14.200 1.5
14.175 1.8
14.150 2.1

21.450 1.8
21.400 1.6
21.350 1.5
21.300 1.3
21.250 1.2
21.200 1.1
28.300 1.3
28.400 1.2
28.500 1.1
28.600 1.1
28.700 1.2
28.800 1.3

In 2 month using less than 100 watts with a Yaesu FT-857D I have been able to made more than 400 contacts in 6 continents only in 15 and 20 meters (because for foreigners they charge annually for every band you plan to use and it is expensive, so I chose only this 2, they have more activity now), many of the station that I have make contacts are using yagis antennas and amplifiers with more than 500 watts and they are giving me many time similar report that I am giving then. I try to water proof with electrical tape but still every time it rain the resonate goes down.
I am very happy with this antenna, easy to install with good result

Could be better mechanically  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have owned this antenna for 3 year. Erected in the V format and fits snugly in my small garden.

When it works its great for its size. Poor mechanical design lets it down.

So far its been down 4 times for replacement rivets in the coils (now on the second set), resoldering of balun, waterproofing all traps with self amalgamating tape and the latest intermittent failure was a broken coil wire under the head of a rivet in the 15m trap.

Will it last another winter in my coastal QTH ?

5/5  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I have had this antenna up @ 10m for about six months and have had great results, if you have no room for a Windom put up one of these, it will even work 6m (poorly) but it does work strong stations on 6 from europe, so at least I can have some fun on 6m. On 15/20/and 40 works about the same as my Windom 10/80 sometimes stronger sometimes weaker depending on the direction etc, all in all a good antenna. Watch out on rtty, keep the power down, I fried my 20m traps, they didn't like full whack out,,,,,my mistake, can't really blame the antenna, but no bother , Nevada fixed two traps for £50 incl postage back to NI, good service,,,, 5/5

La Mejor antena de HF que he tenido  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
No necesita rotor. Excelente recepcion. La antena incluye balun 1:1

Great...  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Finally got it up with the help from 2 brothers-in-law. Only 20 ft up because of yard limitations. Like I mentioned earlier, I had siliconed everything except the drain holes. First contact was Moscow, Russia coming in like gangbusters. Helped that is was in a NE orientation. Absolutely love it for the ease and simplicity. A definite keeper.

Second Review  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is my second review of the Comet H-422 Rotatable Dipole. I’ve had the antenna now for 6 weeks. I have it at a height of 35 feet in the straight configuration. First off the SWR is almost perfect on every band now that I’ve adjusted it to what they call the “FM” portion of the bands.

Assembly was quick and easy and I have to admit it looks good when you look up from the back yard. The quality seems to pretty good.

On the 10, 15 and 20-meter bands I’m very happy with the performance of this antenna. DX is now a joy with a good chance of those stations now actually hearing me. 40 meters is a different story, QRN, QRN and QRN. I have a constant S-9 noise level on 40 meters. It’s so bad it really makes it useless on 40. With that said on my G5RV I have a S-5 noise level so it may not be totally the Comets fault and only time will tell.

Still as before from my first review, it’s the cost of this antenna that really bothers me but I did buy it. I still recommend the Comet but I have to say not as much as I first did.

Works very well 4 me  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I got my H-422 from a ham that had moved to an apt. not allowing antennas. The unit had fell from a 2 story house from a storm, it was bent but not kinked i took great pains es did a fb job on str8ing it. It mounts to the side of my trvl trlr at abt 15ft in Vee config. I trimed it to mid bands es dont need a tuner at all for phone. hitched it up to my tuner es i am doing digital, cw, es phone up es dwn da bands. I give the unit a 5/5 more easy to assemble than traditional di-pole es no guy wires. It will b a gud ant. for field day im sure. a bit pricey new, a great find in the dirt.

Well...here goes  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Gave it a 5 cuz I am impressed that everything came as it should. I noted there could possibly be a potential for water damage, so siliconed all holes, screws, and the end of all traps except for the drainage holes to allow it to breath. Even siliconed shut the ends of the whips. Hopefully this will keep all problems to a minimum. Waiting for the snow to go so I can put it up.

Worked great for me  Time owned: more than 12 months
Very good rotatable dipole, had it up about 20ft and still worked a lot of dx even at this low height it worked pretty good on 40 mtrs.My radio's internal tuner could matched it on 12 and 17mtrs and also worked dx on these bands never had any problems with it.I wanted
more band coverage so i replaced it with a hy-gain vertical.
