Great Support
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

I have been using LOGic for several years. I have always received a quick response to my questions. I recently added a label printer to my system. I had trouble making LOGic retain the selected label type for my label design. After several e-mail exchanges Dennis at LOGic set up a time we would both be available to look into the problem. Dennis accessed my computer using NetMeeting and quickly determined the printer driver for my Seiko 420 Printer was the issue.
There is a 4 hour time difference between the east coast and Alaska time zones. Dennis was willing to address this problem at 2200 his time and on a Saturday.
LOGic is a great program with great support. You cannot go wrong with this combination.

Another hit from PDA software/Hosenose! Was very pleased with Logic 7, upgraded to Logic 8, and the transition was smooth as silk. Logic 8 fetched all the old logs and settings, making the change very easy. Dennis also supports the product excellently and very promptly. This is a real winner! The map function is exceptional, and the automatic lookup of callsign data is astoundingly well executed. Key in your contact and 'blam' there is all the data; name, place, etc. Very professional while easy to use. Get It!

Excellent station management software
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
Over the years I have expended too much time trying logging software packages but I keep coming back to Logic because it meets my needs the best. Let me give you an idea of how I use it in daily QSO’s.
· When I enter a call in the log, Logic brings up the other ham’s information with his picture from my QRZ subscription
· Logic uses the internet to bring up the weather at his QTH and the CIA web page on his country
· It brings up a biography page where I have entered information about him, his family, and his station from previous QSOs. (This is different than the large Note field that may pertain solely to a previous QSO.) I find this feature very valuable to getting to know the other amateur over time.
· Logic also enters his address and looks up his QSL card manager.
· It also gives me information about whether he is a member of Fists, etc, and whether he has indicated that he uses eQSL
· If he has sent me an eQSL it shows me the image of the card or pictures he may have sent me by email
· It makes it very easy to upload your log to eQSL or LOTW
· It contains all the advanced DXing and award chasing tools you might expect from a top level logging program.
This is the most important of a suite of software I keep running when I am on the radio
· Logic
· Microsoft Encarta Atlas for looking up the other ham’s QTH
· For RTTY and MFSK I use MixW which nicely interfaces with Logic
· For CW I use a small window with the spectral display from CwGet to zero beat the other station
Download the free trial version and try it out. Don’t try to make it do everything the first evening. The program is sufficiently complex that probably no one uses every feature and exploring its capabilities is better done over a period of months. But there is a collegial community of users on the email reflector and Dennis, the software developer, gives excellent support. There are lots of reasons many of us have stuck with this program for over 15 years.

Outstanding

Recently upgraded from my old Logic 5 to Logic 8.My main interest is a reliable DX Log that I customized. Nice upgrades & most impressive was Dennis being available to help merge the two logs and his outstanding support. The Logic programs are the best and most flexible. ( used since 1999)

A worthwhile upgrade
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I have been a user of Logic since I early 2000 and consider myself to be an experienced user. Recently, I upgraded to Logic8 from Logic6. Bottom line: Logic8 is a worthwhile upgrade to previous versions and I am enjoying it very much.
My favorite new features are the configurable spot alerts and the internal FCC logbook. The alert function allows you to look for specific spots or comments within spots when you use the telnet clusters. Spots can be announced verbally and you can even set up an email function to broadcast specific spots to your friends and enemies. Logic8 also includes a very large list of worldwide telnet clusters, which can be configured and tested prior to connecting. The FCC logbook can be updated within Logic, as can all the various lists Logic tracks (IOTA etc). It even has a current LOTW list that can show you if your contact is a LOTW user, and can configure and upload your contacts directly to your LOTW account or Eqsl.
The learning curve for Logic is fairly steep, so the software comes with video files that do an excellent job of explaining the various more complicated functions. Logic is the most robust, most customizable logbook available on the market. I have tried every logging program (for PC’s) available over the past 6 years and Logic is the most sophisticated by far. If all you want is a simple program, then Logic is not for you. But if you want to be able to create your own fields, forms, reports, contest logs and track a variety of data across your logbook, no program that I have found works as well. Oh, and even though I have crashed the program from time to time (due to user error), I have NEVER lost a contact from the database or had to reinstall the program because I corrupted it in some way. From that point of view, it is rock solid. If you use your computer extensively with your station, then you’ll like Logic8.
On my website (k6sgh.com), in the software section, I have a screenshot of how I have Logic configured. Or, you can follow this link: http://www.k6sgh.com/images/logic8.jpg .

The best

I am into Logic since Version 3, back in 1993 or so. It is the best programme, but, as other reviewers stated before, it is not a simple programme. It is all you need to manage your logs, awards, radios and much more. One programme does it all.

Still the best

I have used Logic versions 5,7 and now 8. This software suite is not a simple logging program. If that is all you need, look elsewhere. It is quite comprehensive and powerful, but you must dedicate some time to reading and applying the documentation.
If you are seeking awards, operate contests or want powerful features for searching data this is the program for you.Typically the support provided by Dennis is excellent.
This is not for those that seek instant gratification. Once you master the basic concepts you will enjoy power unequalled by any other such program on the market.
