Reviews Summary for Jackson Harbor Keyall Keying Adapter Kit
Jackson Harbor Keyall Keying Adapter Kit Reviews: 4 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $$12.50
Description: The Keyall is an accessory for a keyer , hand key or bug which will allow operation with nearly any transmitter. The circuit is a solid state relay which will key solid state (12V), cathode keyed tube rigs (high positive keying voltage) or grid block tube rigs (high negative keying voltage). The Keyall will even key transmitters like the original Tuna Tin 2 which requires a keying output which is isolated from ground. The Keyall output can be made fully optically isolated from the keyer input. The Keyall can even be used as a conventional solid state relay for DC or AC loads-- the output transistors and capacitor are rated at 500 V and 2.5 A (2500 mA). Includes complete documentation. Board size is 1 x 1.5 inches.
Product is not in production.

You want it!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I agree with W4UTI. It is a must have! You can key everything very well with it, from vacuum tube radios such as Drakes to QRPs like the none simpler NS40. It isolates things very well. I am using a couple of exhausted batteries to power it. It does not need a switch to be turned on. It just consumes a few milliamp while it keys. No way to exhaust the already exhausted batteries... it just keeps working!!!

Every keyer should have one  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This solid state relay for electronic keyers is a great little circuit.

The Keyall eliminates the need for a switch, jumper or separate jacks to select "Positive or Negative (Grid)" keying and greatly increases the voltage (to 500 V AC or DC) and current (to 2.5 amps) a keyer can handle. It will make any keyer work with any transmitter keying circuit: positive, negative, isolated from ground, cathode, grid block, solid state, high voltage, or high current.

If keyer manufacturers would add these few components to their circuits, alot of problems would go away and the keyer would have a lot more flexibility. Until then, there's the Keyall and at $12.50, its a bargain.

Great Product  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The Keyall is an optically-isolated solid-state relay (SSR) designed to switch modern or vintage transmitter/amplifier keying circuits. The circuit is designed to switch up to 500 VDC or VAC loads at 2.5 amps. I purchased three of Chuck's Keyall circuits for use with older amplifiers that were designed with very high voltage on the PTT key line. The Keyall handles this application with perfection.

In the past, I have used high-voltage NPN switching transistors, but when interfacing low- logic level to medium or high voltage loads, a failure of the switching transistor could place the low-level logic at the same potential as the load -- resulting in a catastrophic failure of the keying device. If the low-level logic is contained within a transceiver, don't count on the radio manufacturer to honor their warranty. The Keyall provides excellent IN/OUT circuit isolation through the use of power MOSFET transistors and further isolated by an optical isolator. No electrical path exists between the circuit's input and output.

Construction time was about five minutes per Keyall circuit board. I highly recommend this product.

NICE ADD-ON  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I recently purchased this kit to enable me to use my K-40 keyer with my TS-830. The K40 only supports positive keying. This little kit was abreeze to build and I stuck it in an Alroids tin with a 2 X AAA battery holder and now the k-40 works with the gridblock keying on the 830. Nice add-on and well worth the price.
