Nice Sharky

What can I say about this new product from Behringer... The Shark DSP 110 it's a great mic preamp, a wonderful noise-gate with good learning feature also the compressor is doing a great job. If this little "fish" had also a graphic EQ, it would been a complete solution for ham radio high quality modulation.

Good audio on the cheap

I have only had this little box for one day so I will not comment on it’s reliability, I can do that later. I have played with it quite a bit now and tested all the functions I am going to use on daily basis. Many hams want to put a better microphone on their rig and add just a little polish to their audio. This cheap little box may be your answer. There is a built in pre-amp with a clipping feature. That is a very handy way of stopping over driving the mic.
With today’s new rigs we already have the ability to set our audio up with built in EQs. Now with the DSP110, we can go a little farther with just a little more cash. Usually around $70.00. One of the most asked questions I get all the time is how do I get the mic gain correct and not transmit all the noise of my shack including my amp? This device will allow you to eliminate the background noise and determine a cut off point either automatically or manually. It also has a low cut filter that will make it possible to get rid of the low rumble that many hams have, because of things like acoustic vibrations on microphones and rumble caused by other devices in the shack. There is also a compressor, a feedback destroyer, and a limited FX devices. I would not recommend FX (delay) feature for hammy radio.
The manual, like all Behringer manuals, sucks. But just take it out and hook it up as described and play with it into a dummy load and you will find out how it works very quickly.

This is a GREAT piece of gear for your shack. Its a compressor, a limiter and a digital noisegate. Keeps audio levels the same, and the noisegate kills background noise. Retails for $99 but you can find it on line for about $70!!
