The Legend Continues after 22 Years!

Time owned: more than 12 months

Although this HAL 6850 TELEREADER is no longer in production, my 1984 model is still ticking!
After meeting the HAL Communications President and his wife at Dallas HamComm booth a few years back, I walked away knowing the reason the HAL Telereader was discontinued was high cost of parts & U.S. labor intensive manufacturing, making this stand-alone unit non-competitive with the new computer-required imported products.
Luckily purchased a "parts" unit used from a local ham. The second-hand HAL was quite beat-up cosmetically with no keyboard/cables of course. After digging around in my junkbox, I found a power plug and fired it up and it works just as good as my original one in spite of the dents!
My HAL 6850 TELEREADER looks like Mil-Spec and it works like Mil-Spec. The undeniable weak-signal decoding capability is still astonishing. HAL will consistently decode RTTY and/or CW signals the human ear cannot pull out of the noise threshold!
Because of it's Mil-Spec design, it's 22-yr zero-maintenance reliability & the legendary HAL decoding capability the HAL 6850 TELEREADER has earned the wv4r 5-star rating and more... much much more!
73 es God bless, murf/wv4r.
