MFJ does it again

Time owned: 3 to 6 months

I work meteor scatter and wanted a mast-mounted preamp to compensate for a fairly low antenna mount. I have had great success with Mirage products when they were really Mirage products. In the first few months that I have tried to use the KP-2/6M I have had to repair the control box three times (I used to be a comm/nav tech with Beechcraft, so I know how to troubleshoot/repair and hold the necessary licenses). The SWR on my once almost perfectly matched 5 element yagi reads 1.7:1 with the preamp inline. I have heard MFJ referred to as "Mighty Fine Junk", but I do not necessarily agree with the first two letters. When it is operating it is a bit noisy, but it does a decent job.
