Better than anything else

I've enjoyed this magazine immensely. As a ham and SWL I have enjoyed nearly everything in the MT. The old equipment rebuilds, scanning, a section specifically for hams, practical hints, and eclectic articles offer a lot. I find no fault with this magazine and wouldn't even if there was something better out there. It was one of the first magazines to provide huge numbers of web sites useful to radio nuts. There will always be SOMETHING I find uninteresting (to me) in MT, but that's very insignificant in the overall scheme of things. Good job, guys at MT.

Update on previous review

To be honest, I really like the magazine and I have a subscription for 2007. To be complete, I bought all 12 issues of 2006 in MME format. My surprise was big to find out that MME issues are protected from printing. Do the publishers really think everyone might just read them on their sreens? Or copy and distribute them amongst others? This is paranaoid! No, I will not print the whole magazine, But the articles that might interest me.
Sorry, but this is not customer friendly at all. Monitoring monthly is great, MME is not.

THIS MAGAZINE SEEMS TO COPY THE STYLE OF THE OLD SHORTWAVE MAG BUT WITH A NEW TITLE.THE CONTENT OF THE 1ST FEW ISSUES IS VERY QUESTIONABLE,OLD HAT COMES TO MIND.I SPOKE WITH THE STAFF AT THE PROMOTION STAND AT THE LOCAL RADIO RALLY IN REFERENCE TO SOME CONCERNS I HAD WITH THE MAG.I GAVE INDICATIONS AS TO WHAT WOULD MAKE INTERESTING ARTICLES FOR READERS IN THE UK & EUROPE,A FEW OF THESE IDEAS ABOUT RADIO ACTIVITY ON VARIOUS FREQ,S OF INTEREST TO MANY LISTENERS.TO MY SURPRISE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO BE CAREFUL AS TO WHAT THEY PUBLISHED BECAUSE THE UK RADIO REGULATOR WOULD NOT BE TO PLEASED ABOUT VARIOUS SUBJECTS MENTIONED.THIS IS THE STUFF THAT WE ALL MONITOR AS RADIO LISTENERS SO THE WORD CENSORED MONITORING MONTHLY SEEMS APPROIATE.IN OTHER WORDS READ WHAT WE PRINT & LIKE IT EVEN IF ITS NOT INTERESTING.MONITORING MONTHLY I WISH YOU ALL SUCCESS WITH YOUR NEW VENTURE BUT PLEASE REMEMBER WHY SHORTWAVE MAG LOST SO MANY SUBSCRIBER'S NEAR THE END IT DIDN'T LISTEN TO US & WHAT WE NEEDED.

Worth a read

MONITORING MONTHLY is a new magazine which has taken the place of the old 'Short Wave Magazine', with editor Kevin Nice still in the chair. All the old columns are still there - satellites, DXTV, Datacomms etc - but with more pages and each subject given more space, and the magazine has more of a 'quality' feel to it. If this standard can be maintained, MM deserves to succeed.
