Reviews Summary for MFJ-4726 6-Position Desktop/Remote Transceiver/Antenna Switch
MFJ-4726 6-Position Desktop/Remote Transceiver/Antenna Switch Reviews: 13 Average rating: 3.6/5 MSRP: $159.95
Description: Six-Position Antenna/Transceiver Switch can be placed on your desk, out-of-way under your desk or even in another room. Connect any one of six antennas to any one of six transceivers with just two easy-to-use rotary switches. Keep your antenna tuner or SWR/Wattmeter always connected to the antenna and radio selected by connecting it in series with the MFJ-4726 common ports.
The MFJ-4726 automatically grounds all inputs and outputs when you turn off the transceiver or remove DC power. All unused inputs and outputs are grounded. And when the rotary switches are in the OFF position, all inputs are grounded or control is transferred to a MFJ-4726RC remote control ($59.95).
Surge protectors are included to protect your equipment by shunting surges to ground. However, they do not protect against a direct lightning hit.
SO-239 interfaces. Full 1500 Watt capability from1.8-54 MHz. Usable to 150 MHz. Use CAT 5 cable for remote control (not included). Requires 12 VDC or 110 VAC with MFJ-1312D ($14.95). Indoor use only, not weather protected. 8Wx5Hx41/4D inches.
Product is in production.

arrghh  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I really should have known better from previous experiences concerning MFJ products, than to naively mail-order this switch. In this case the 4-position variety, but the innards are the same, the only differences being two vacant relay positions each on two printed circuit boards, two 5- instead of a 7-position selector switches and accordingly less UHF-connectors on the rear panel.

The manual says all rf connectors are grounded with power off. After that the manual ceased being accurate, because those rf connectors stayed grounded regardless of supplied power and selector switch positions. An e-mail to MFJ support went without ever receiving a reply.

As I so far failed to buy something from MFJ which worked out of the box, and e-mails to MFJ persist to remain one-way communications, I set out to repair this switch, too.

The latter obviously wasn't designed with maintenance in mind, the nuts holding the UHF connectors are obstructed by the PCBs, and said connectors' centre pins can't be reached with a solder sucker while the PCBs are still mounted in the cabinet. Once I had the switch disassembled the reasons (yes, plural) for its failure to work became visible: Long, un-cut relay pins were touching the UHF connector housings, and several PCB traces were shorted by bent component leads.

While I had the switch apart I replaced the standoffs by longer ones to get more clearance between PCB and connectors, which also would make future board removals easier, and I cut threads into all UHF connectors' four mounting holes. MFJ saw fit to use only 2 screws per connector, so I drilled twenty further holes into the cabinet.

Because of the still non-existent quality control and support at MFJ zero points are still too good a rating in my opinion.

Great quality and works great. Now all my cables go in one direction instaed of looking like a star. Loaded with 1K volt relays. Looks good too.

Great for multiple rigs/antennas  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is a great antenna/transceiver switch which makes selecting different combinations of transceivers and antennas a snap. I mounted my MFJ-4726 under my desk to keep the coax clutter out of the way, and use the compact MFJ-4726RC remote unit to control it. This switch is good from 1.8-148 MHz and handles 1500 watts. I have a detailed review of this on my website at www.ad5x.com.
