Reviews Summary for The Geratol Award
The Geratol Award Reviews: 1 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $5.00
Description: The Geratol Award is also known as the "Unbelievable Operating Achievement Award."

This award was formerly administered by the ARRL. It is now administered by the Geratol Net.

This award is available to amateur radio operators which have a license allowing them to operate in the Extra Class United States 75 meter phone band (3.750-3.775 MHz).

"To challenge your skills in obtaining the special 75 meter, 2-letter, Unbelievable Operating Achievement award select call sign structures are allowed by the Geratol Net. The QSL cards required for the award must be from stations with the following call sign formats:

1x2 Extra class ex. w2nl
2x1 Extra class ex. ab5t
2x2 A Extra class ex. aa4ff, ah6cg, al7ac
2x2 kh6, wh6 or kl7 Extra class ex kh6aq, kl7af"

"All contacts must be made within the 75-meter Extra Class sub band, and each QSL card must indicate a 2-way SSB QSO. The frequency must be listed to 4 digits, such as 3.768 MHz. The Geratol Net will not accept 3.5 MHz or 75 meters, because that QSO could have been outside the Extra Class sub band."

"This is the award that gets you your own Geratol Number."

This is a worked all states type award. To apply for the award, it is necessary to submit 50 qsl cards (along with an application form), one from each of the fifty states of the United States, that show a qso in the United States 75 meter phone band.
Product is in production.

GREAT NET AND GREAT AWARD!  Time owned: months

My Geritol number is 2490.

Previously, I earned the American Radio Relay League Worked All States Award. The Geritol Award is more difficult (although it is a worked all states award), since it is earned solely on the exclusively extra class 75 meter United States phone band which is now 3.600-3.700 MHz; the geratol net now meet at 3.668 MHz plus or minus qrm (as of December 15, 2006).

In addition to working all 50 states on the extra class portion of the 75 meter phone band, there is a requirement that each of the 50 states worked have an exclusively extra class formatted call sign. Merely having a extra class license is not sufficient for this award.

This award is a challenge, but is well worth the effort. All of the net participants are eager to help and very courteous.
