Inexpensive coax crimp tool
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months

After you've soldered hundreds of UHF connectors,
you get tired of the melted dielectric and
other problems.
With this tool, you can use inexpensive crimp-type
connectors that are more reliable and much faster
to attach...at a much lower price.
This tool's die forms hex crimps of .319", .256",
.213" and .068". Among others, this covers
the three crimp sizes (strain relief, braid and
center contact) for the Cambridge CPL-259-1
UHF male for RG-58/U and similar cables.
When you buy 25 connectors, they cost only
a hair over $1 each, cheaper than most soldered
connectors.
No, you can't do just as well crimping connectors
with gas pliers! Get the right tool for the
job -- you worn't regret it. It's also the
kind of thing a club could buy for its members
to use.
The Eagle 382-301C is a "full-cycle" tool,
meaning that it doesn't open until the crimp is
fully formed. (There is a release lever, though).
At less than $30, this tool produces quality
crimp connections at a very reasonable price,
especially compared to other full-cycle crimpers.
