Great information about homebrewing  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Soldersmoke is an entertaining homebrewed podcast mostly about homebrewing. It's a little rough around the edges at times. For example, turn down your volume before he rings the "gong" since it will still hurt your ears despite the fact that the narrator has tried to tone it down. Luckily it's only used once per show.

Other than that, I have found a great amount of useful information about getting on the air with a modest station. Rigs, antennae, operating, and of course soldering are all covered in the podcast.

A few of the podcasts have included recordings of ham radio activity as heard on the contributor's receiver. For some reason, I find it fascinating to hear what has been heard on someone else's receiver half way around the globe.

The book "Experimental Methods in RF Design" is mentioned several times throughout the podcasts. This is a wonderful book, and any discussion of this book is always worthwhile.

Great!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Hi all

I have downloaded and listened to a few of these episodes. The production quality is great and on a cold winter night I can think of nothing better than grabbing a hot cup of coffee, putting on the fire and listening to a podcast of Soldersmoke.

I was saddened however the read of the passing of Mike earlier this year and he will be missed. However Bill is doing a great job in keeping the program going and this really is best way of paying tribute to Mike's past efforts. We will miss Mike but I am sure many good episodes of Soldersmoke lie in the future.

The podcasts include discussion on a a wide variety of Amateur and non-Amateur topics (including homebrewing) as well as interviews and a mailbag segment. In many ways it is like an old-fashioned Saturday night radio show.

Bill also generates a lot of genuine warmth and enthusiasm for his chosen topics and this is evident listening to the podcasts.

Anyway talk is cheap. Just go to http:;//www.sodlersmoke.com and download some episodes. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

Regards

Like an old friend  Time owned: months
Two exuberant thumbs up for Soldersmoke. Listening to Soldersmoke is like sitting with an old friend and chatting about my favorite hobby.
I agree whole heartedly with Ben below, Soldersmoke is a great podcast for everyone in general but tailored more to the homebrewer and qrp'er and is very inspiring.

Bill and Mike have many terrific podcasts covering many topics and projects. We suffered a great loss when Mike became a SK but Bill has still done a wonderful job of continuing the Soldersmoke podcast and I thank him for that.

Do take the time to listen to Soldersmoke and I'll bet you include it in your weekly podcatching.

Cheers to Bill in London and 73!

Homebrewing at its finest.  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
This is a great podcast for those into QRP and homebrew. It consists of Mike (KL7R) and Bill (M0HBR) talking over Echolink, discussing thier homebrew and QRP projects. There are now 53 episodes, so this podcast has been around for some time!

You'd think that the recordings of two hams discussing QRP and homebrew would be boring, but Mike and Bill have a chemistry and style that makes the 'cast down to earth and enjoyable. It has rekindled my fire for homebrew and has me down the path of doing QRP when I get my General Upgrade.

Recently, Mike passed away in a car wreck. Bill has carried the torch forward in an admirable way. Bill works hard to keep the content entertaining, light hearted, but mind expanding.

Try it, I think you'll like it.

thanks and 73,
ben, KD5BYB
