I have a few bugs and recently added to my collection
the Vibroplex 100th Anniversary with jeweled movement.
I came across Georg's website and order his Bugg001 model.
This is hand crafted and it shows the care and quality he puts
into the key. The bug is like the one pictured with blue base,
chromed parts and red finger tips.
The feel is comparable to the 100th Anniversary model and
akin to a 1939 MacKey that I also use. It's a definitive movement
in the sense it is crisp and precise. Very smooth operation
and a joy to adjust.
The key comes with an interesting and ingenious method
to slow down the key, the dot arm can be extended beyond
the damper with screwable extension shafts.
There has been some talk about how to slow down some
bugs and besides the additions of gimmicks, speed tamers,
vari speed, solder, clothes pin, etc,, A study indicates that
increasing the arm's length is another way to slow the
pendulum down.
So this bugs comes with two weights and two extension that can be screwed to the end of the arm. You can use one or both at the same time.
I must say with both extension on and with a weight at that end
the dots are so slow that it's impractical. On the other hand,
without any weights, it's very fast, heck faster than I can send.
Georg worked with me during the making of the key, for
example he offered a hammered looking base, binding post
or a 1/4 jack for connections.
I'm very please with this key and look forward to order a second.
Keys are subjective but you'll won't be dissappointed with this one.
