Nice upgrade for an Icom 703 Plus  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
For owners of the Icom 703 Plus model, there is a choice between the Icom filter (FL-52A) and the Collins mechanical filter board from W4RT for narrow operations. A few conversations in Dayton, convinced me to give the W4RT filter board a try.

Careful installation is required - the ribbon cables in the Icom 703 Plus are somewhat delicate and the four solder points do require a fine tip temperature controlled iron. As with any enhancements, follow the supplied directions carefully and double check your work.

All that said, this filter upgrade is well worth the price of admission for digital modes as well as CW.

Installation could be better  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Let me be clear, if I want to add a filter to another ICOM product this will be my first choice. My only reason for not giving it a "5" is the instructions had some minor mismatches between the product and the descriptions. Not a huge problem but it took more time to make sure everything was right than the actual installation. Once everything was back together the performance was great.
