EXCELLENT SERVICE!!

My barely used ft-857d (back up base radio) malfunctioned in the FM mode. I sent a email to Tim which he promptly answered and answered all my questions I had asked. I sent my radio to him in Oct. and got it back repaired in about a week! No screwing around...the radio was repaired and checked out and returned to me! This was the first time I ever sent anything out to get repaired and it appears I made the right choice by sending my radio to Midwest Techical Services!!! Excellent customer service all the way! Radio has been in use for two months now and works! Thanks Tim!

Excellent Service!

A friend who sent his HF rig to Tim for repair recommended him to me. My 2M Icom V8000 got sick (I feared I let the smoke out) and sent it off to Tim with a request to not only stuff new smoke back in bu to repair a weakened remote audio jack.
Similar to the experience of everyone else who has made comments re Tim's service, I received my radio back from him with the invoice enclosed at a cost significantly below what Icom would have charged, I'm sure.
I have previously sent my equipment back to Icom in Washington and have had good, prompt service. But, their labor rates are much higher than Tim's and their responsiveness to repair queries re repair feasibility, status, etc. (e.g., talking to a tech) are far more difficult to get that Tim's. Tim responds very quickly to emails, even on weekends! (Tim, don't you take your weekends off?) I cannot comment on calling him as we corresponded via email. But, from what others have said on this forum, Tim is apparently very accessible.
If there could possibly any fault to to find it would be that Tim has to order replacement parts v. a factory shop which has a full store of parts (usually ... maybe). But, that is an extremely small quibble to make regarding a one-man operation. Would I/will I go back to Tim again? YOU BET! And, I heartily recommend Tim to anyone else who doesn't have the personal resources to repair their own gear.
Thanks Tim for great service!

Words cannot adequately describe the high level of service and technical knowledge that Tim has with radios. Tim's customer service is as good as it gets. Prices for the repair of my radio was very generous. I wonder if he thought I was a distant relative.

Great advice!

I have had the chance to talk with Tim twice about some technical difficulties and he was able to analyze them right over the phone. In contrast to the tech at another service who couldn't figure out the problem with the symptoms described Tim zeroed in on it and I didn't have to ship the rig after all. A look at Tim's experience shows that he knows his stuff and I have already told him that I will definitely send him my gear for repair in the future. His rates are also quite reasonable.

FT100 REPAIR
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I sent my Yaesu FT100 to Tim after an email inquiry. I purchased the radio in 1999 and it had workd well for many years. About 6 months ago the output on vhf/uhf became zero and I figured it was the finals and It probably would not be repairable. Yaesu and others I called advise me to forget it.
Tim agreed to look at the radio and it was not the finals and was promptly repaired and returned well packed. Tim’s response to my emails where very prompt. Midwest Technical Services is on the top of my list for equipment repair.

I am happy to report Quality & Service are alive and well at Midwest Technical Services. Tim quickly identified the lightening induced problems with my FT-1000D, completed the repair, and returned the unit. He even bagged and returned the parts he removed. Tim has earned my recommendation and future business. Thanks Tim!

..."top-shelf" services by Tim
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

...just received my FT-950 with the NS/AC0C Roofing Filter installed from Midwest Technical Services / Tim Moes...another Great Job by Tim...
...the 950's CW performance is enhanced...the filter provides an extra increment of "smoothness" to the overall CW operation and noise floor...nicely done !
...so, if you want your 950 to become a "top shelf" CW radio than the NS filter is an option you will want to consider...I did and I am pleased...K0XY

Great service - Professional

I live within 90 miles of Midwest Technical Services so it was easier to deliver my radio than ship. Tim took a quick look at the problem and thought he could repair it while I was in town. An hour later I received a call the radio was ready. The price was very reasonable. And his service bench is state of the art.
Watching Tim work when I first arrived made me feel he was an extremely qualified Technician. I was a service tech 30 years ago. Tim will Get my business!
