Fine Service from Cal  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Recently I picked up a TS-440 from an estate of a SK. It was in fine shape externally, but did not work properly after 10 years in storage. Shipped it off to Cal and he he did an outstanding job of getting it back into top notch shape. I now use it every day. Don't hesitate to use Ham Radio Repair.

Man of his word  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Purchased a used FT-900 that had a PLL unlock issue. I emailed several of the repairs shops listed here and was surprised that many didn't respond, Cal was one of the few who did.

He gave me an estimated of 2-3 hours on the bench and 2-3 weeks turnaround time. Based on his excellent feedback and quick replay to my email I decided to go with Cal.

The radio was repaired in two hour and I had it back in 2 weeks 6 days, and the radio is working great.

Cal will be do any future work that I may have.

Competent and Honest  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I sent my 590 to Cal thinking it needed an alignment. I also noticed some audio distortion after installing the TCXO. Cal identified an error I made while installing the TCXO and resolved it. He also calibrated the receiver and informed me that this solved my 'off frequency' issues.

He could have charged me for an alignment, but didn't, since it only needed calibration. I appreciate a service provider who only does what is required and charges accordingly.

You can't go wrong by sending your gear to Cal.

Excellent Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Had a problem with my TS-590S which Kenwood would not fix under warranty because I was not the original owner, so not wanting to pay them for a repair that they should have been glad to take care of, it was sent to Cal at HamRepair.com.

They got the problem fixed and back to me promptly. The phone call and repair was handled in a very professional manor.

I am very haapy with Cal's work  Time owned: more than 12 months
I was treated extremely well when I called Cal to inquire about sending my Icom 706MKIIG to him for repair. He was very helpful and told me what to do in order to get the rig to him. The rig was repaired promptly and returned with an invoice listing what was done to correct my problem, which was no output. 73, Frank-K9LRS

Trust + Honesty = Value  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
There were several things I wanted Cal to do to my TS-440SAT. Cal could have done them. However, he did not do them all - and, Cal explained to me why he did not. Certain things were fine, checked out to specs and Cal saw no issue.

Some people would have done the work and charged me even though the work didn't need to be done.

The rest - the alignment, antenna tuner, checking it out to see if anything was in need of repair - was done with a detailed series of notes regarding what was done, the specs, and so forth.

Cal packed the radio up better than it was packed when I sent it. The bill was quite fair and the work that was needed was done. Emails were acknowleged quickly and needless to say, I'm quite thrilled with everything.

Highest regards for Cal, his honesty and his technical expertise. The radio is operating better than ever. 73, Cal!

first class service  Time owned: more than 12 months
Over the last few months I sent in two Kenwood TS-50's for backup battery replacements, calibrations and a general 20 year inspections. His standard operating procedure is that once he receives the radio and he's ready to begin work, he contacts the customer by e-mail or by phone if he has additional questions. He explained to me on the phone he double checks in order to be sure he understands exactly any symptoms identified by the customer. If you have an e-mail quesion, he gets back to you promptly. Overall, he did the work promptly and at a fair price. As long Cal Fisher is in the amateur repair business, I need look no further for a tech I can trust.

Terrific, competent service!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I've sent 4 radios to Cal and he quickly repairs and returns them. His prices are excellent and he is willing to talk through a problem before you send it in to get an idea of whats wrong incase it is something you can fix yourself. Highly recommended. Thanks Cal. Bob in Castroville, TX KE5KDT
