Pleasant and effective experience  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The installation of a 1115u balun to isolate a long vertical feedline, about 115 ft, reduced considerably both the SWR and noise level at my station. The whole process from choosing the right balun to receiving it in Colombia was pleasant and fast, due to the excellent service provided by Bob.

Bob is the best for all your balun needs.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Very good customer service. What else can I say. Bob's the best. I would not hesitate to buy from him again. I'm very satisfied with his product, and so will you.

Excellent product  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I bought a couple of these from Bob. One for my tri-band beam and the 2nd one for use with a 30 meter antenna. I have to reflect the same feelings as other folks about his service both in the ordering process as well as cust. support. I've not had any issue with either item but have exchanged emails with Bob a couple of times. He built them as i asked and they work as they should. He's my choice for future purchases of baluns. Great to see a product built to work as it should and a reputable person (ham) to deal with. Three cheers!

Excellent Products at a Great Price!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
After reading some of the great information availble from Balun-Designs regarding the use of an isolation transformer, I realized I needed one for my GAP Titan vertical. Had some issues with SWR across all bands on the Titan and was unsuccessful at resolving them using the troubleshooting instructions. However, after installing the Balun-Designs #1113u Isolation Balun, the SWR came down considerable across all bands and the noise level drop was amazing! This last weekend I could hear and work stations from 7-Land QP and NEQP from Indiana like never before. The construction quality of Balun-Design product is top notch and the value unsurpassed. Shipping charges are refreshingly reasonable, too. Also purchased the mounting plate (#BMP1) in an effort to save time in securely mounting the balun. The clamps look like they'll fit a 2" boom fine. I used it to mount to a 1.5" mast and had plenty of strap left over. I'm very please with these products and plan to add a 4:1 balun for my lowband doublet later this year.

Nice products!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I am convinced that ALL antennas, whether with so-called 'balanced' or 'unbalanced' feed, absolutely require a balun at the feedpoint.
I have made my own lots of times, using ferrite beads, and coiled coaxial feedline. They work fine...but, aren't compact, easy to make and install, etc. etc.
By referral, I checked out Balun Designs. I called and talked with the owner, Bob, KZ5R. He turned out to be extremely accomadating, and worked with me to get EXACTLY what I wanted. He customized the input/output connectors to make the baluns I ordered fit my particular needs. He answered all of my questions so that when we were finished, we both knew what I was going to get.

The baluns are top-notch, and are designed and constructed beautifully straight-forward.

I will be buying more of Bob's fine baluns.

Excellent quality...nice price  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Bob is a great guy to deal with and his attention to detail is second to none....a custom wound balun, to the style you like, all with lightning fast personal service. I have bought 1:1 chokes, 4:1 and 6:1 baluns from Bob and have them all in service with great results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting a quality product at a very reasonable price.

Simply Better Than Others  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have seen lots of baluns. I have even made my own many times. This one is better than the others and is from a guy who cares and takes pride in being the best. Do yourself a favor and save some money and get a quality product from BalunDesigns.com

One bad design flaw  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I purchased the 1:1 yagi balun,Now dont get me wrong they are made excellent but there is no way to mount this balun to your boom or mast. You have to tape it with electrical tape and hope it last a year or two. This is just a bad design. This guy can wind a mean balun but lets try to secure it somehow. What a concept mounting this box to the boom????

Super Quality Great Service  Time owned: months
I decided to purchase this balun after reading other reviews and corresponding with Bob several times. He was very quick with replies to questions I had and had the balun to me in 2 days. When it arrived I opened the weatherproof box and was delighted to see the high quality material. Bob has several versions and ratios to choose from and I selected the 5KW 1:1. There is also a 3KW version but the 5KW is only a few bucks more. He even remembered to include additional eyelets for additional antennas I'm using. I have seen both the Array Solutions and DX Engineering comparable 1:1 baluns and Bob's is just as high quality for nearly half the price. I have xmited at legal limit for several minutes at a time and in no way saw any evidence of saturation. Thanks Bob for a great product, service and value!!
