Nice products!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I am convinced that ALL antennas, whether with so-called 'balanced' or 'unbalanced' feed, absolutely require a balun at the feedpoint.
I have made my own lots of times, using ferrite beads, and coiled coaxial feedline. They work fine...but, aren't compact, easy to make and install, etc. etc.
By referral, I checked out Balun Designs. I called and talked with the owner, Bob, KZ5R. He turned out to be extremely accomadating, and worked with me to get EXACTLY what I wanted. He customized the input/output connectors to make the baluns I ordered fit my particular needs. He answered all of my questions so that when we were finished, we both knew what I was going to get.

The baluns are top-notch, and are designed and constructed beautifully straight-forward.

I will be buying more of Bob's fine baluns.

Excellent quality...nice price  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Bob is a great guy to deal with and his attention to detail is second to none....a custom wound balun, to the style you like, all with lightning fast personal service. I have bought 1:1 chokes, 4:1 and 6:1 baluns from Bob and have them all in service with great results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting a quality product at a very reasonable price.

Simply Better Than Others  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have seen lots of baluns. I have even made my own many times. This one is better than the others and is from a guy who cares and takes pride in being the best. Do yourself a favor and save some money and get a quality product from BalunDesigns.com

Super Quality Great Service  Time owned: months
I decided to purchase this balun after reading other reviews and corresponding with Bob several times. He was very quick with replies to questions I had and had the balun to me in 2 days. When it arrived I opened the weatherproof box and was delighted to see the high quality material. Bob has several versions and ratios to choose from and I selected the 5KW 1:1. There is also a 3KW version but the 5KW is only a few bucks more. He even remembered to include additional eyelets for additional antennas I'm using. I have seen both the Array Solutions and DX Engineering comparable 1:1 baluns and Bob's is just as high quality for nearly half the price. I have xmited at legal limit for several minutes at a time and in no way saw any evidence of saturation. Thanks Bob for a great product, service and value!!

Extremely High Quality Balun  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I ordered one of these baluns directly from e-Bay, on the basis of the reviews on eHam.

Within minutes of the order being placed, I had a confirmation and thank-you right back by e-mail. It was hand-wound for me (I thought this would take at least a week or so), but was still on my doorstep in two days!

Construction is excellent, as other reviewers have already noted. It is housed for outdoor use in a NEMA enclosure. I attempted to estimate Q using my Palstar antenna analyzer. It is actually too high to measure! This is not only a very well-built unit, but the design is obviously top-notch as well.

Amazing service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
My decision to purchase the Balun Designs product was influenced by the rapid response to my email inquiry to KZ5R (rrumsey@att.net) about constructing a customized version for my application. Bob provided me with a balun with stainless steel clamps to hold the balun to a mast and studs with solder lugs on the top to connect to the feed point on my antenna. I agree with other posts here as to the obvious quality of the construction. Bob provided detailed performance data for my balun upon request. More comments after it has been in service for a while.

Excellent construction  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Since I haven't yet put this balun into service, this rating is based mainly on the excellent contruction of the balun. All components and their assembly are first class. After opening the gasketed waterproof case, the attention to detail is apparent.

I'm also very pleased with Bob's timely and helpful responses to my questions about the details and operating conditions of the balun.

I plan to share my experiences in another review, after using the balun in upcoming antenna projects.

Works well  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Had previously experienced difficulties in tuning my three band vertical in particular on 10 mtrs. This isolation balun fixed the problem now providing very stable tuning conditions. Thanks Bob!

No Problems  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This isolation is tops in quality and performance. A great alternative to the expensive Array Solutions and DX Engineering over priced items.I will buy again in the future for other antenna projects.
