K2 tune up, and upgrades  Time owned: more than 12 months
I found Alan on eHam. I had purchased a previously constructed K2, and the 160 M kit, and the Noise Blanker kit. I didn't have the time, or probably the skills to do the kit construction, and wanted to also make sure the K2 was perfectly aligned. I emailed Alan about his services, and I got a call back very quickly. He quoted me a price for the work, which was fair, and I mailed it off the same day. As he doesn't wind toroids (can't blame him!), he asked me to order them from the Toroid Guy who drop shipped what I need to him in just a couple of days. Pictures of the work were soon forth coming, and the whole process took just two weeks including shipping. Alan is great to work with, and if I ever get the itch to do the 100 watt power/at kits he will be my first choice. Thanks again Alan, and yes I really could hear the difference after the "tune up".

Excellent service for a very resonable price.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is the 2nd time I have utilized Alan's services. He fixed a problem with my K1 and now just fixed my K2.

He finds the problem very quickly and communicates with you during the process.

He does a great job!

This guy is a pro.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
My K2/10 CW xcvr went to Alan's for the addition of the SSB board and a tune up. It was gone one week to the day. Alan called me to tell me it was on the way back home, and he called me after I received it to make sure it arrived safely.
My K2 now is a CW/SSB rig and what a radio it is. Thanks to an honest engineer, the job was done quickly with a very fair price. Thanks Alan!

Excellent service  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
The Elecraft K1 I purchased used had diminishing power output. Alan Wilcox, W3DVX, quickly fixed the problem with the power stage and aligned all other stages, fixed some bad solder connections, and returned the rig to me in record time. He has reasonable rates and superior service, and I can reccomend him highly.

KPA100/KAT100 Combination  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Alan had recently done some work on my K2. That review is under my former call sign KI6ZOP. When I decided to go ahead with my next project, I did not hesitate to contact Alan.

The Elecraft K2/10 is arguably one of the best QRP radios on the market today. Occasionally it would be nice to have just a little more output power at home, you know, like a full featured K2/100. I just didn't want to give up the portability of my K2/10. The solution was to install the KPA100 and KAT100 together in a separate project enclosure. With a simple connection to my K2, I can now enjoy the best of both worlds.

Elecraft drop shipped the parts to Alan directly. As the assembly progressed, he would keep me up to date by email and even a digital photo or two. He discovered a defective transistor in the parts package and worked with Elecraft to have a replacement sent without any further attention on my part. Before long, the unit was ready for shipment. I am very happy with the results.

Because of my earlier review I know that I am repeating myself here, but I will say it again anyway. Alan Wilcox does a first class job while charging reasonable prices. He is a pleasure to work with and you will be delighted with the results.

Thanks again, Alan. I'll be in touch again when I have set aside enough for a new K3.

Great resource!  Time owned: more than 12 months
My K1 had an intermittent problem that I was unable to diagnose. Based on reviews here I contacted Alan who quickly responded to my email with an estimate and shipping directions. He followed up continually during the repair process with either phone calls or emails. I have the rig back in better shape than ever thanks to Alan! Very reasonable charges and excellent work and follow-up.

I'm a repeat client having worked with Alan on several previous Elecraft projects and I will continue to work or consult with him in the future. His timely work, professional communication and technical know how are all first class.

I Highly Recommend Alan Wilcox...  Time owned: months
In late spring I purchased a K2 on eBay. I would later discover that the radio was never in "spec" or properly aligned as promised by the seller. Minor errors in construction made proper operation impossible. This is my first ham radio experience. It was easy for me assume that I was doing something wrong elsewhere and never suspected my radio. Eventually my frustration level peaked and I contacted Alan Wilcox to make arrangements for a complete diagnostic. He also assembled and installed a KAT2 ATU for me. Alan quickly discovered and corrected the issues the radio was having. He was in contact with me the instant he found trouble and had the unit ready for return shipping in a very short time. Alan is a pleasure to work with and his fees are very reasonable, too.

My radio operates beautifully now. For the first time I understand why the Elecraft K2 is so highly rated by those who own one. I only wish I was aware of his services before bidding on eBay. Thank you, Alan.

Highly Recommend  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Allen recently built and installed a KPA100 module in my older K2/QRP. The work started with a tune-up and alignment during which Allen found, diagnosed, and solved several issues with the K2. The KPA100 build was top notch in all respects and what was a good radio is significantly better than before and performs flawlessly. Throughout the entire process, Allen stayed in close touch by both phone and e-mail. The latter even included high resolution photos of the build in progress. Allen's rates are extremely reasonable and very fair. From the previous reviews on E-Ham I was expecting a good experience but, Allen's work far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend.

Excellent assemble and very nice to work with  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
About 3 weeks before a trip to Colorado I decided to buy an Elecraft KX-1 so I could operate QRP on the trip. Alan agreed to assemble it. He advised me well about the options to buy, and communicated well and promptly as he built the kit - even sending pictures of the various boards as he assembled them. The unit was finished on time and his craftmanship was at the expert level. I am perfectly satisfied with everything he did and certainly recommend him.
