Highly recommended!!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Within the past year I have sent both of my K2/100's (#1933, #4295) to Alan for upgrades and tuneups. In both cases, the results were outstanding. His prices are reasonable, he will keep you informed of what he will do, and will provide a 1 page summary of the results. I will not hesitate to use his services in the future.
Keep up the great work Alan! I am definitely a SATISFIED customer!!

Excellant  Time owned: months
My K2/100, KAT/100 is six yrs old. It needed minor updates. The radio developed a no tune problem on 40 mtrs and a power output on 20 mtrs. I called Alan because his website mailing was down. He told me to mail it to him after talking to him about the radio. He was very easy to talk with. Kept in contact thru email and he called me twice about the radio to discuss the repairs. He made me feel at ease sending my radio to him. I got the radio back and I know it hears better, tunes more responsively, and even the QSK with my bug sounds better. He included a service sheet. His service charge is very reasonable, and charges a flat rate each for the radio and the tuner. My radio was gone about three weeks. He had to wait for parts from Elecraft. He also told me about re tightening the power transistors of the KPA/100, of which I am in the process of getting more information about. All in all, I would not hesitate to have him service my K2 again. thanks Alan for great work and keeping contact during the repairs. John K3JK

K1 Repair  Time owned: more than 12 months
I recently finished my first construction project. I thoroughly enjoyed building my Elecraft K1, but lo and behold it would not transmit or receive when I got to the final steps. After conferring with Elecraft I decided I did not have the expertise or equipment to resolve the problems. Elecraft recommended Alan to me and I sent him a quick email. Within several hours he called and asked a few questions. I sent the radio to him the next day, and a day or two later he called to inform me that he had started trouble shooting.I had under soldered several places on the boards and installed a couple of components backwards. Bottom line: He repaired the radio and had it back to me within abt 10 days. His prices were fair and his work is superb. My little K1 works like a champ! I HIGHLY recommend Alan as a repair source and I assume he is equally talented as a builder. Nice to know there is someone out there with skill and integrity.

Master Craftsman  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
When I was first licensed 47 years ago, I built nearly all my own gear, and what I didn't build myself, I modfied.

Fast forward to today ... my eyes aren't so hot, and parts are tiny.

I've really enjoyed my K2, but after 3 years, I realized that the 160 meter, SSB and ATU options weren't going to build themselves, and I couldn't do it, so I contacted Alan.

Alan did a *superb* job, in every respect. He kept me informed with a steady stream of pictures via email, and when he found things with the K2 that needed more work than expected (the 100 watt amp didn't have the latest mods), he let me know why the work was needed and what it would cost, so there were no surprises.

The quality of the work was far better than I could have managed, even in my best days, and the K2 works better than it ever did (guess my alignment job wasn't so hot, because the rig sure works better now ...).

If you've got a K2 or K2 options that you haven't built, Alan is the guy to talk to. He did a fantastic job for me.

Precise, skilled, and honest  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
When I became unable to build my Small Wonder Labs DSW II 40m kit because of unforeseen physical limitations, I contacted Alan Wilcox. It was the best decision I could have made. He is a proficient technician, good communicator, fair, honest and reasonable with cost. He also sent pictures to me of his progress with my kit. The final result was a beautiful piece of workmanship and a rig that works perfectly. I recommend this builder to anyone wants a thorough and skilled job done. D.Jack Heath, KB4NDR

Excellent, honest craftmanship  Time owned: more than 12 months
Some time ago, Alan agreed to "fine tune" my K2 (which, as I began to suspect, required a bit more tweaking than I might have initially cared to admit). Throughout the process, Alan sent regular e-mails and photos - which led me to ask him, prior to the radio's return, to have him install an SSB board. On all accounts, and after a fair amount of usage, Alan's alignments have stood the test of time. So, while I encourage all to take a stab at building a K2 (or a K1 or a KX1 - - it's a happy rite of passage for today's hams), for a very reasonable fee Alan will make sure that your "excellent handiwork" winds up being up to Elecraft standards in all cases.

excellent work  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I am pleased to offer this recommendation on behalf of Alan, who recently built my K1. I found him to be dedicated and proficient and extremely pleased with hus work. I especially liked the e-mails and pictures he sent me while he was assembling the kit in a timely manner.

more mojo for your K2  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Alan added several elements to my K2, the antenna tuner, serial IO port and an ea3blq digital interface. It was very pleasant to work with him. We spoke about what I had in mind, I sent him my K2 and parts, and then he called to verify exactly how I wanted it, and to review the options. Then he buttoned it all together, and aligned the K2, and even tested with my MH2 microphone. Alan does fine, professional work and is a really good guy. I would have no hesitation in using his services again, or to recommend him to a friend. My K2 has never been this good. It's like a brand new tricked-out radio, with more mojo than ever before!

Excellent Work  Time owned: more than 12 months
My k-2 had RFI problems. On a 40 meter schedule, friends would complain about the audio. Alan was able to fix it, he was fast, and kept me informed of the process - I would highly recommend him.
