Quality Build & User Friendly

I have owned my CB-1 PTT for approximately one year. Mine is well built with a good finish; both the paint and the chrome. The PTT switch is smaller than on many of the matching desk mics such as Yaesu's MD-100, but it is still adequate for me. I have used the stand with both a Heil PR-40 and an Audio-Technica ATR-30 (a GREAT yet inexpensive mic). The mics and stand look really good together. I am surprised at the low ratings posted by previous reviewers.

I bought mine to hold my PR 780. I have had no of the problems stated below.
I guess I got lucky.

I have never written a negative review on e-ham, but this piece of junk cries out for it.
I have a lot of Heil mikes. Good audio products but sometimes the support hardware is not up to par. Take the CB-1PTT. Please.
Flaked paint, crooked rubber base plate, mismatched and uneven paint texture and appearance. It screams cheap import, with no quality control. The outrage is compounded by the price.
I need a PTT for my Heils. This was to be the answer but I can't talk myself into keeping it.
Sent it back to HRO. They opened three other boxes and found essentially the same shoddy workmanship in each, and refunded my money.
Atlas makes a very nice round base stand, similar to the CB1PTT. Sells for anywhere from $29 down to $12.95 at audio discount houses. Drill a quarter inch hole in the base, get a $2.50 PTT button at Radio Shack, and you have a far better piece of hardware.
I sent Heil a very polite e mail explaining the problem, and it's been over a week. I didn't expect a reply, and so I am not surprised, just disappointed.
The earlier (circa 2004 CB-1 was a quality stand.
I still have one. Somewhere along the way Heil changed suppliers.

Needs help

Bought the base for my PR781,the mike itself works fantastic but the stand needs help : paint fell off from a little surface and the PTT-button is too small to operate.
It's not possible to make a decent transmission when needed.
The ptt-switch like a Kenwood MC60 or Icom SM20 would be a solution for this base.
