AC model is louder
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
Just a note, the old AC model is louder than the newer DC model. Think AC smoke alarm loud. Actually could harm hearing if set to close to the ears and used as a wake up alarm clock.
If you know anyone hard of hearing needing an alarm clock, the AC model is much louder than modern clocks designed for the handicapped. It is probably the loudest ever made. And very hard to find used.

Hard of hearing or approaching your golden years?
Here's a quote from MFJ: 'Warning: The high volume setting is extremely loud -- sounds like a security alarm.'
Yes, EX-TREME-AH-LY!
Louder than ten Big Bens clanging at once.
Only if you are somewhat deaf do you want or need this clock, but in that case perhaps very badly...
Model MFJ-116 (110 volt AC) now discontinued.
Model MFJ-116DC (12 volt DC) still in production.
Obviously a high amp wall wart would convert to AC.
