Nice little key.

I added a knob as I did not like the flat plastic finger piece. This key has a nice feel and is a simple functional design. While not a bargain price wise, I still think it is a good value.

Take two! They're small!

I put the KK-1 to what I consider to be the ultimate user test of a straight key: The Straight Key Century Club's monthly weekend sprint.
I tend to put 14 to 16 hours in on these events. After using a full-size key for virtually all my weekend-sprint QSOs in the past, I was curious to see how long I would last with a mini-key.
The KK-1 was a pleasure to use (and I have hands that require extra-large gloves). It took a couple of QSOs to get used to the feel of the key. But once I passed that point, I was off to the races. No fatigue whatsoever.
I use what I hear is a European approach to straight-key work, with the key near the edge of the table and the keying action coming largely from my forearm.
I should add that I picked up a Jardillier mini-key at a hamfest last fall. These were used by French commandos, among others. The KK-1 outperformed it on the desktop. Sometime I'll try the leg-strap test. ;-)
As I said, no fatigue; and the key never traveled on me, despite its small footprint and because the entire key arm and finger pad remain positioned over the base. Nicely done!
One update: the MSRP is now $40.

I love this thing

Can I just say I love this thing. I bought this and have been using it now to practice code. I just like everything about the KK1...size, simplistic...etc. I planned to use in on the air shortly.

Bought mine at Dayton. As already said, it's cute,
smooth to operate, easy to adjust, and fun to build.I could not be happier.

Nice Key

I sent for the KK1 with a personal check via snail mail,FL to CA.It arrived amazingly fast none the less.It was easy and fast to assemble.A small pocket knife took care of the little bit of deburring needed. It is nice and smooth in it's action and fun to use.It arrived in time for the FL QSO Party and I had a blast working almost all CW in the event. It might be the best $30 I have spent on ham radio gear.On a portable operation last week, several onlookers commented about the nice looks of the KK1.

Must have for qrp

Time owned: 6 to 12 months

I've owned this key for about 6 months. Upon arrival I polished up the aluminum base and the brass and added a wooden knob to the flat plexiglass. I bought it for use with my Elecraft KX-1. A great little key that is priced right, very adjustable and easy to put together.

Nice little key!

The key comes in kit form, but is easy to put together. I would recommend some polishing of the aluminum base and brass. I would also recommend taking a fine file to the contact points to remove any possible burrs. I added a wooden knob to mine bu simply drilling a small hole with a Dremel tool. I picked a drawer puller/knob from a local hardware stained it and adding a clear laquer. Goes great with my KX-1!

WOW ! ! ! !

What a neat little key, smooth easy on the finger and a real treat to use. This is by far the nicest straight key for QRP operations I have ever used. How can you go wrong for $30:00 shipped to your door in the USA, and a reasonable charge for shipping to other countries.
Doug Hauff at American Morse Equipment is truly providing great products at reasonable prices to hams around the world.
Don't head up the mountain without one!

This little key kit--it comes as a bag of parts that you have to screw together--is easy to assemble, easy to adjust and operate, and very easy on the eyes, too. At $30.00 postpaid, it's about half what any other minikey costs. Easy on the wallet. They ought to call it the easy key.
