RIGblaster WHAT?
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
I just got rid of a RIGblaster Pro and bought the microKEYER II. All I can say is that this is THE most advanced piece of rig-to-computer interface gear I've ever seen (even with my older rig, TS-690). It will take me weeks to figure out how I get my full investment in this - but I'm sure gonna try.
Amazing. Well done.

One word describes this interface - Excellent! This is quality equipment. Expensive, that depends on the old saying, "You get what you pay for" That being said, no, it's not expensive at all. I use my Micro Keyer II with a Yaesu FT-1000MP with great results. There are other interfaces out there, and some are very good, but for me the choice was clear.

Could not be better!!!

If you are older than 40 , this interfaces is not for you:-) I spent more than half day to find where I can plug in 13,8v for supply. Understand that, when I got a original cables for FT2000, I don't need external power supply :-)) Jozef in few second explain what I need to do, and couple of minutes later my 15 years old son Stefan, configure all setup less than 20 minutes!!!
Setup is great! First time in my life ( ham radio operator since 1980.) I work with bpsk31 with 35 watts Ja, Usa, Africans dx's on 7 mhz very, easy. Also, rtty work amazing. All main logging programs are compatible with MK2.
Internal sound card is very sensitive. Nice LCD display. Very clear and easy to work. All you need for comfort work, dx'ing, contesting are in the same place. With full output of big Om power amplifier, no any RF or interruption.
Simple USB to Rig dissolve all communication problems.
Really nice piece of equipment.

Exceptional

I have owned my microKEYER II for about ten months and also use a three year old microKEYER (I). The build quality of these units is exceptional and the support is no less than spectacular. Never any problems other than those operator induced. Highly recommended, and while I’ve not personally used any other computer interfaces except homebrew, IMHO you can’t go wrong.

Great device

I bought similar interface from another company, it didn't work, they blamed my PC, had hard time to communicate.
Microham has outstanding Customer Service in US,getting help (if needed) very fast and they drive it until problem resoved. Had issue with RF hum in Micro Keyer II, and Microham investigated it with simple solution - have capacitor installed on USB connector sheld.
Nice LCD monitor, great DVR feature, now work great with MicroHam Station Master.

Hardware and Support Great

Compared with the previous review, I've had quite the opposite experience with my Microham Micro Keyer II. The unit is extremely well designed and built. Whenever I've had a problem (user error), a quick email to Joe would quickly resolve the issue. I currently have the unit interfaced between my Elecraft K3 and Toshiba laptop and have used it for SSB, RTTY, PSK31, and CW. Even though the K3 has robust built-in interface capabilities, the Micro Keyer II is still much more flexible and convenient. The internal sound card also works much better than the one on my Windows laptop. Eventhough the interface cables might seem expensive, they are extremely well-built. I would never be able to homebrew one like that no matter what the cost. The MK II also works great on my MacBook with CocoaModem and MacLoggerDX. High fives all around for MicroHam and Joe.

Great Product

This is a very well designed product. I had some questions, and got rapid replies to my emails...even on Dec. 31! It does take a little bit of time to set up all of the parameters, but once you get everything configured it is seemless. Be sure to go through the entire manual (I missed a setting for FSK the first time). It is certainly easier to just use one USB cable to the computer and to let the MicroHam do all of the work. Great looking box, too.
