Great audio in and out!
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months

I had a this headset about 1 year ago and sold it a purchased a desk microphone. A mistake.
The desk mic was OK, but I really missed the hands-free Proset-IC. I sold the desk mic and again purchased the Proset-IC, using the headset with an ICOM 746, (non-pro).
Hands free, great audio, comfortable and lightweight enough to wear for extended time periods.
With the flip up mic, shifting it out of the way when not needed, is a nice feature. And the phase reversal switch works surprisingly well.
I adjusted the headset using a second receiver, using a dummy load on the transmitter. Sound very good, and drives the 746 quite well.
Fairly light weight, great audio, comfortable, and I know Heil has good support.
I would definitely recommend this headset.
I give the Heil Proset-IC a high 5.

Bought My Heil Proset IC used off of Ebay. I have been told my audio was very clear with or without the speech compressor. It is very comfortable to wear and I have a BIG head.

Excellent so far!

When I bought the IC-7000, I decided to hold off on any fancy microphone/headset for a while. Today, while at the Binghamton (NY) Hamfest, I spotted a Heil ProSet (at KJI's booth) and decided to spend the money and go for it. While I am using it in the VOX mode only (no foot or hand switch yet), I find the received audio reports from those who hear me range from very good to excellent. The headphones are comfortable, and the boom microphone extends to the proper position for best audio. The cable is a bit long, but I am OK with that, having looped up the excess cable and securing it with a tie wrap.

I purchased this headphone/mic to eliminate outside noises. I wasn't worried about how it felt on my head. Boy, I sure am glad I went with these instead of another cheaper brand. They feel great and I'm able to wear them endlessly! well worth the money.

Very Good

Excellent headset, drives the radio (IC756 Pro II) with lots of audio, mic gain at twenty to the hour works really well for my voice, get unsolicited great audio reports. Initially took a lot of time to setup the radio to use this microphone. But once I figured out that I was overdriving the radio by a very tiny amount the difference was outstanding.
The headphone side are excellent and I find the phase reversal very useful in contests. The phones are very comfortable to wear for long periods. Also the isolation from noise in the shack is excellent.
Overall it is a 5 out of 5 from me. 73 & good dx

I own this one for over 4 years now. I works ok, but looks and feel cheap. After an hour it hurts my head.

Very Happy

I though about buying a new headset for about a year. Finally bought a used one from a heck of a nice guy on line. Been very pleased with the comfort and receive audio. Sometimes I wish it had a coil cord but most of the time this is not a problem. I use it on cw alot so it is cool how the mic quickly stores up out of the way.
Great Product.

Fantastic Match

I deliberated buying one of these for a while but was worried it might be too hot or lack-lustre since I have the 746pro, not the non-pro.
Instead I bought the Icom SM-20. It's alright, but picks up far too much background noise.
Finally my wife insisted that I try the Heil Proset-IC. I did. I love it!
My friends helped me setup the audio on the 746pro for the stock hand mike, such that it sounded great on the repeaters with the compressor off, and great on the SSB with the compressor on. That took quite a while with feedback from everyone, until they were all satisfied (very frustrating process).
I dreaded the thought of having to change the gain, EQ, and compressor settings to try a new mike since the mike gain has no scale or markings.
To my absolute pleasure it turned out that the Heil Proset-IC plugged right in and drove the radio's audio just exactly the same level as the stock handmike. It seemed everyone immediately felt compelled to compliment my audio, both on the FM repeaters and on HF as well noting that it had a very flat and natural sound with a bit more bass (in a good way).
What can I say except that ol' Bob Heil really knows what he's doing.
Great headphones as well. The frequency response is beautifully suited for communications, and the phasing switch is very useful as well.
I tried about 10 microphones with the 746pro and none of them sounded near as good as the Heil.
If you're on the fence wondering if it'll be worth the price tag, I say "go for it!"

I have a number of different Heil mics and accessories both at home and here in Bahrain, turns out that I have managed to somehow buy two Heil Proset-IC models. Nice and comfortable on the ears, cuts out most of the qrm from my xyl and dogs, but above all, I just love all of those super audio reports that keep on rolling in each time I am on the air.

The HeilProset-IC works really well. Gives the Icom rigs nice audio and not under driven. Its designed for Icom radios and produces lots of audio. Heil mics and Icom radios have always needed a little extra drive but no such problem with this headset. Audio sounds very good with no "muddy" sound whatsoever.
