Is great for most, just not me.

In the interest of total disclosure, I am friends with N6VQL, and I know that both of his Better RF 7000 Tune Controllers work absolutely flawlessly. My experience with the one I have has been nothing but headaches. We thought we had it set up pretty close, and it worked well for me on 20 and 40, but that was it. It would not find tune on my Hi-Q 5/160 on 10, 12, 15, 17, 75/80 or 160. So I contacted Alan, to get his input. Upon making the changes Alan recommended, it no longer was able to tune ANY band. Then I got word that my truck was to be sold, and I was getting a new truck (I am a cross country truck driver), so I un-installed it from the truck it was in, in anticipation of the move. I then installed it in my new truck, using the advice Alan gave, and Felix's experience. After 3 months of messing with it, on two trucks, with 3 different mounting configurations, and countless differing combinations of snap on ferrite beads, in all of the usual locations, and then some, I have taken the Better RF 7000 Tune Controller and the Better RF Screwdriver Controller out of my setup, and gone to Charlie's (W6HIQ) manual controller with turns counter.
Now, I do not want to bash the Better RF products, as I know they generally work VERY WELL, but I have had a very negative experience, with them, and wanted to be sure to post here, that in order to use them, you must be a patient person, and one who enjoys a challenge, to tinker with. If you lack the patience, to tinker, endlessly, and would rather have something that is plug and play, consider something other than these products. If you do not mind tinkering, you can probably install it, tinker with it for a short while, and be extremely happy with it's operation, for a long time. I just don't have the time or patience. I need something that requires very little adjustment, and works right away.

I purchased this Better RF 7000 screwdriver control and tune control from AES in Milwaukee. I hooked it up to a new Little Tarheel II screwdriver and IC-7000. At first I was plagued by RF, and the antenna would not budge. I then put ferrite split beads on all the cables, and sorted out the problem. It now works perfectly every time - I have never had a problem - the antenna always moves in the correct direction, and finds a perfect match, every time. It makes HF mobile a wonderful experience - jut change bands, and push the IC-7000 "tune" button, and the controller/antenna does the rest. Great support from Alan too !!!

I recently purchased a Better RF 7000 Screwdriver Control. I found it operates better than advertised and technical service from Gerry was exceptional. I recommend visiting Alan K0BG’s web site for any information you will need to get your rig on the air.

I've used it with High Sierra Antennas in base and mobile installations and it worked great. There were no errors. There were no faults. It worked flawlessly.

Along with the Better RF IC7000 tune control it works very well. So far after months of use it has not got confused and tunes my HiQ 5/160 very accurately. Had a problem with RF getting on to the control cables but after a very quick helpful response from Better RF, I cured it using ferrite clamp on suppressor at the antenna base. Thoroughly recommended.

I use this with the Tune Control on a IC-7000 installed in a Buick Park Avenue with a Hi-Q 5/160 mounted on the rear of the car.I can change bands with ease and it never gets confused(yet). I have used the same controller with a Hi Sierra Sidekick with great results.

Talk about Service!!

I just installed the Better RF Screwdriver Controller. Of course, I was the one that received, most likely, the only defective one that has been made. I called the guys at Better RF. They asked me a few questions, had me do a few things and determined I really had a bad one. The next morning one was sent via FedEx. I received it the following day. It worked perfect!!
The product itself is an excellent design. It was easy to install. Just follow the instructions and it will work. Mine is controlling a HiQ 4/80 antenna.
This kind of service is what's missing from most companies today. Not to mention the guys at Better RF are just dam nice guys!! I HIGHLY endorse/recommend this product and the Better RF company.

I lov it to

It work perfect with the Better RF Screwdriver Controller and connected to the HI-Q 5/160.
I am weary pleased with this controller form Better RF.
If you lock for only pusch a button and tune the antenna from 160 to 10m with the 1.2 or better SWR this is the solution.
If you have a Screwdriver antenna this is the perfect match with the Better RF Screwdriver Controller, I love it.
