GREAT ITEM!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I Ordered the Signalink USB from Dx Engineering on a Monday and received it on Thursday. The rig cable for my Ten Tec Orion (1) was ordered the same day from Tigertronics and it also arrived on Thursday. Superfast delivery!

I plugged in the wire jumpers per the diagram on the Tigertronics website with no problem. I also jumpered the optional receive and transmit audio jumpers for additional audio. These are easy "Motherboard" style plastic jumpers. If you connect to the original Orion, be sure to go to the SSB menu and increase the Aux Input Gain. You will most likely need an increase in order to obtain rf output when using the Orion Aux I/O jack. After some re-reading I figured out why at first there was no rf output. I started making psk contacts that evening and the unit has so far performed perfectly. I have tried Digipan, Mixw, Hamscope and Ham Radio Deluxe and all work FB - Just select the USB soundcard. Windows XP recognizes the Signalink USB as soon as you plug it into a USB port. Try one you will like it.

Very Good!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Just received my SL-USB today installed the jumpers and hooked it up. The installation manual was helpful in the software settings. In a few hours I had many contacts in the log. Mainly using it for PSK31. My TX frequency was 10 kHz higher than it was on my old interface, luckily my FT-857D has a Digital shift option so -10kHz and I was on freq again. If not for the shift I would give it a 5. Well worth the 2+ months backorder time.

Nearly perfect  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
This interface works. I don't care for the back-order time, but for this price and this quality, I would sugest waiting for it. I do not see why anyone would use a more complicated set up.

You have to do some very basic jumper wiring and then you just plug two cables in - one to your rig (the acc port of my Kenwood) and the other to a USB port of your computer.

The software included is mostly shareware/freeware and the advertisements for the SignaLink should make that clear.

A little more help in the manual for hams new to digital modes would also be nice.

The manaual should say that it is critical to set the TX volume low enough so that the ALC meter on your transceiver shows zero at all times. Do NOT increase TX volume to get full power from your rig. Your output power will be a bit lower, but your readability will increase tremendously!

BTW, the SignaLink works great with MixW (I use it only for packet) and the shareware/freeware beta of Ham Radio Deluxe which includes Digital Master 780 (most other popular digital modes).

Just connect two cables and you're on the air!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Easy to hookup to my Macintosh laptop, the unit's built-in sound card works great, MacOS X recognized it with no problem. Eliminates all those extra wires to the computer, just one USB cable needed. I set the jumpers inside the unit according to the radio cable directions, plugged it in to the radio and again, it worked first time. Only ONE cable to the radio - what a sweet setup!!
(I'm using the Icom AT-180 external autotuner with my 706, and there's a second 13-pin socket on the back of the tuner that's ported straight through, so that's where I connected the interface - works like a charm!) I'll revisit the review after using the unit for a couple of months, but my first RTTY contacts were problem-free. So far, it's worth every penny.
Ham radio ops who are also Mac users should consider one of these.

What a great little Interface  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This thing is neat, its exactly what I needed and whats nice it was Easy to hookup to my Computer and to my IC706MKIIG ... came with the right cord and set the sound and POOF it works.

I can take it out with my Laptop portable now and not have to worry about the cables and sound and power and everything else.

The built in sound card is stable as a rock, the only thing I needed to do was change the sample rate to 12000 rather than 11025 ... and its been playing ever since.

I don't know why I didn't do this earlier.

Excellent  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I hated the wait but it was well worth it. Comprehensive instructions. connections couldn't be simpler. Intuitive on-the-fly adjustments. The unit is simply easy to connect and use. It works well with HRD/PSK31 Deluxe and Mixw2

Great Interface for Digital Modes  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I purchased my SignaLink Digital Interface from TigerTronics in Grants Pass, Oregon, and found the company quite wonderful to deal with. The unit hooks up quickly & easily. Instructions that came with the unit are Quite comprehensive & Easy to follow. I'm NEW to Digital Modes but find this unit quite easy to use & enjoy! So far I am using Digipan Software, and it works quite nicely. I'll definately be dealing with TigerTronics again!
