Ok, I have owned a Kachina 1 since about 1977 and
still do. It has basically become just a oddity in my collection of radio equipment. It was my very fisrt 6m rig, followed by a then new Yaesu FT-680R that I still have and use.
The K1 is sort of a mix of then new and some old technology, it sort of looks like a cross between an Atlas and Swan. All solid state, 26-30 and 50-54 Mhz with only AM, USB and LSB modes selectable
and capable of 100 watts output although rated more conservately to broad band it. If you set it up for 100W on 10m you can still have 10w on 6m and add a brick for that band. Mine has also had and external box I wired in for carrier adjustment
on AM, I found this to be needed for controlable AM modulation as the rig operates USB/Full Carrier
for AM. Any notice that AM is now in again on 6m ?
at least in some areas with the older rigs.
For anyone interested in photos and a copy of some advertising slicks on the K1 visit my web site.
