Reviews Summary for Cushcraft LAC4H
Cushcraft LAC4H Reviews: 2 Average rating: 3.5/5 MSRP: $49.95
Description: Protect your valuable equipment from unplanned current surges with a Cushcraft constant impedance LAC4 series arrester. The LAC4 has a replaceable gas discharge tube which clamp voltage surges to less than 50 volts in about 100 nanoseconds - much quicker than than the voltage rise time of lightning. (Please note that this device may not protect equipment against a direct lightning strike). Four models are available, depending on desired frequency range and transmit power. All metal construction. Made in U.S.A. These units must be grounded to earth properly to function.
Product is in production.

Didn't Work Very Well  Time owned: more than 12 months
I must have had a direct strike because the lightning blew the cover off my LAC4 and left the inside of the arrestor black. Didn't protect equipment.

Originally installed in 1994.

held up since 2001  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have owned and installed many of these since 2001 and have never had any problems with them. I live in an elevated area and have had many strikes close to my house and have never lost any Ham radio equipment connected to the coax that these protect! NOTE: you need to follow manufacturers installation instructions to the tee! I have gone through great lengths at my QTH to assure proper grounding. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT OR THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR EQUIPMENT. I can't stress enough the importance of following the manufacturers recommendations for this product.
