Having toyed around with an 3 element beam for years i decided to upgrade to an better antenna, needing an bit more gain and more directivety.

The usual trip to the DIY for material was quite an shock, the price of aluminium and stainless steel fastening material has gone through the roof here...

Looking over the Net for an 5 or 6 element beam i found Konni in Germany, offering an 5 element beam with good gain and directivety for an very decent price.

Ordered the 5 element antenna, put it together applied 3 layers of clear tectyl for protection in our wet and salty environment, and put it up, using 18 meters of Aircom Plus coax i used for the 3 element beam.

The balun is incorporated with the antenna, wich has an N connector for the coax.

SWR on 50.150 1:1.1 ..... antenna analiser showed an good SWRup to 51.700 under 1:1.5 and at our band edge 52.000 1:1.7

Gain is advertised as 8.7 dBd, and the first days i worked From Holland with 100 watts and the antenna at 13 meters above ground:
I4SJZ, EA3IE, YT1AR, 9A4ZM, just an few random from the log.
The test from the analiser was confirmed with the antenna in the mast and running the FT 847 with it.

Good construction, excellent gain low price, what do you need more...
