Great for its purpose, needs a pre-amp  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
This is a dynamic hypercardioid microphone. It has a very tight pickup pattern that is perfect if you have loud conditions in your shack and will close talk the mic to knock down your background noise level.

I picked this up specifically for it's tight pattern and the clean, crisp typical sound the Audix vocal mics have.

This mic has a characteristic peak at about 2.6kHz and the bottom rolls off gradually starting at about 80Hz. This works well for the voice quality I was looking for.

This mic has proximity effect like most any dynamic mic, but the important part with this one is, the element doesn't overload if you speak directly into the grille. So for close talking, you can EQ to 'fix' the proximity effect quite nicely.

This mic has 250 Ohm impedance and relatively low output level. This will require the use of a proper mic preamp in order to get the proper quality from this mic.

I run this with the Edirol FA-66 soundcard/pre and use the VoiceShaper software with it and have excellent results.
