Very Good Value  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is a bare bones external speaker to match the FT-901DM, FT-902 or FT-101Z Yaesu transceivers. The P stands for Phone Patch, it has a built in phone patch unit which can allow the operator to hook it up to the landline for phone patching operations (I do not use this function).

The basic external speaker is a very nice compliment to the Yaesu FT-901, it does not have any built in passive audio filtering like newer external speakers. The sound is actually quite good and easily handles AF from the transceiver. I hooked up mine to a radio shack DSP-40 filter and this does give it additional filtering and brings it up to speed. Refer to other reviews on the inexpensive DSP-40 unit.

For US$33.00 this is really a steal and hard to beat if you think about it, it does have phone patching also.

It could match up with other transceivers quite well and is a good inexpensive way to have a good external speaker. Recomended.
