Clever and useful tool

This clever tool allows you to "screw" the PL-259 connector onto the cable. Ditto to the other positive comments. The only suggestion is that DXE does not tell you that once the connector is properly seated, you need to gently grasp the bottom (line side) of the connector with pliers to start to unscrew the tool. I can now strip heavy coax with the DXE-UT-8213 and get a connector on in about 90 seconds. Now, if I could just get the soldering done quickly . . .

A must have piece of equipment

This is a great piece of equipment that allows for easy installation of the PL-259 connector. It makes perfect installations simple and quick. I have made 16 installations and everyone have been perfect. I do not want to say it is foolproof because fools are so ingenious, but it is a piece of coax maintenance equipment that certainly speeds up the process that does not leave toolmarks on the connector.

After using the DXE-UT-8213 to strip the cables, using this unit makes putting on the connector a breeze! Very solid, clean and ready to solder in no time. Great addition to any shack!

I make a lot of cable assemblies and with my arthritis, my hands get to hurting at the end of the day.
DX Engineering showed this new tool at Dayton 2008. This new tool will help with the installation of PL259's on to RG8 series cables (RG213, RG214 and LMR400). This tool threads on to the plug and allows you to screw the connecter on to the cable and properly seat it without the need for pliers or other tools that will damage the connector plug.
This is one of those ideas you go "D'oh" and wonder why it wasn't thought of earlier. The body is knurled for ease of holding and allows you to exert just the right force without damage to the cable or the connector.
Even though I do cables professionally, I would not hesitate to recommend this tool to the casual ham as it really does make cable assembly much easier.
