Good program but needs support
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months
|
nGenlog is a very easy to use application. It installed easy and is easy to use. Had no problems getting it to connect to my Flex 5000. By far one of the better programs I have found and could be worth the money but..
The biggest problem that I have with it now is their total lack of support! They will still take your money but they will not support there product. At least not that I have been able to find. They have their support forums, but...This comes from their website forums:
"Forums
No more support the time being.
Since our forums has been spammed, we are not able to give any support."
Since you have no support you are one your own. The only thing you can do is find something on the internet somewhere else. Hopefully this will get fixed but be cautious for now.

CAT at last for Flex 5000A
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months
|
|
This is my second post with the first one about not being able to get it to work with my Flex 5000A transceiver. They must have did something in the meantime and now mine works well. I told it to use port 15 which I use for all my digital software in Ham Radio Deluxe, then to emulate the Kenwood Radio and even though the Flex does not have an RS232 connector, I clicked on it anyway. It is certainly nice to have the Frequency, Band and Mode enetered in the log automatically, not to mention it displayed in the once empty box. A great logging program with QZR popping up quickly while diplaying any photo that may be on their QRZ page.

Not for Icom 781
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
Software simply does not auto-track frequency, mode or band with Icom 781 notwithstanding the re-write in update version 1.6.0.3
Note: USA contact address lookup does not include State.
It's a shame that "demo" trial version blocks auto-tracking function to validate software compatibility.
Forum support site does respond but has repeatedly ignored refund requests.
I switched out to Logger32 with no problems utilizing same transceiver and computer interface (RigExpert Standard).

GENERAL COMMENT

I AM USING NGENLOG DEMO AND IT LOOKS GOOD. HOWEVER I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY SOFTWARE THAT I CAN'T EVALUATE ALL PARTS OF THE SOFTWARE. I HAVE HAD TO MANY PROBLEMS WITH SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS WHO SAY ONE THING AND THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT FUNCTION AS ADVERTISED. SO THEY COME UP WITH ANOTHER VERSION, THEN ANOTHER VERSION, ETC. NGENLOG MAY BE GREAT BUT I LOOK HARD BE FOR I PURCCHASE.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME POST THIS

Great Logging Program
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months
|
nGenLog looks great and is easy to use, you can customize it to suit yourself.
As with all logging programs you get what you pay for and although others may be cheaper, but they are cheaper for a reason, i.e. they don't have as many features as nGenLog.
nGenLog works great for me, its the best I have used.

Excellent program that is graphic and complete
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

After buying many of the logging software programs and finding either poorly written instructions/ a non-intuitive look and feel or just something missing, I think I have found the one that works best for me. Everything that is important for me is found easily and most are right on the main page, including the map showing where the contact is from. So far, the best one for me.

Great Loggiong Software
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I've tried about 15 different logging programs, and each on was missing something. NGen, has everything you need on one screen, no need to close and open pages. I use to use NeFJP's software the most, it's a great logging software, but that's all it does. Puchased it and installed it, and never have gone back looking at anything else since.

The price is a small amount when you get atten. to detail.

I have been trying to work with HRD for 8 months now. System crashes when its running, sometimes difficult updates and corrections.
I DONT WANT TO BE A SOFTWARE PROGRAMER, I WANT TO BUILD LITTLE THINGS, GET BETTER AT CW AND WORK DX!
After I got nGenLog running I just looked at with my mouth open. Poking at buttons seeing what all it did. Everything I need it to do it does flawlessly. I had donated to HRD but never felt like I was getting my moneys worth. Guys save ur money for nGenLog
The price is a small amount when you get atten. to detail. Thanks uGenLog.
