At last! The log I need!

RUMlog is simply fabulous. I have been looking for this log for a long time. Tom adds features when suggested and the new Net Control window is great and getting better. Whether you use a log simply for your contacts or chase DX, RUMlog does the business. Toms RUMped for contesting and dxpeditioning is also fully featured and networks well. It has seamless integration with CocoaModem for digital modes as well.
Thanks Tom for a great set of software and for making it available free to the amateur community!

Excellent Logger
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months
|
Although I use MacLoggerDX as my primary operating aid, I have found that for crunching the log database RumLog is hard to beat.
Finally I was able to stop booting in to Windows to handle my LoTW QSL's. Being able to download recent QSL's from LoTW (and now eQSL) and have them automatically updated in RumLog is a real time saver.
With RumLog I can search the database in many ways but for me the most important was to be able to quickly see how many countries I have confirmed on "Paper only" or "LoTW only" or both.
For me the cluster handling was a bonus. Being alerted of "new ones" by my choice of overall, mode or band is very well done.
Tom is very quick to react to suggestions and I was impressed when he jumped on my suggestion of including the ability to send an SMS or email based on my needs. He got it working in a couple of days and this function has helped me get a few new ones when I got a text message while busy doing something else.

Excellent package WITH Logging reports, DXCC Summary
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
I have tried 4-5 attempts in the Mac OS-X world of coming close to DX4WIN solutions and most of the Mac programs while very nice and have excellent support (Maclogger by DogPark has some great features) none of them do a nice a job on DXCC and report summary generation as RUM log. Its interface with the radio is simply to log band, mode & freq. I picked the 706 radio for my 756pro and changed the Pro-III's address to match the 706. Works fine.
The database imported my 10,000 records slowly so have patience but once they were in it was the FIRST program to match my DXCC worked 329 at the 327 level- I know the two countries which mismatch every time. All the other logging programs were off by 20 or 22 countries and it would require a tedious hand look up and country adjustment to make it work.
Rum log is easy to use, but best is the DXcluster interface is like DX4WIN. It's announces DX, worked, needed, or new band country. Really NICE. It places the announcements in color for you to tell if you need it for band country, mode, or new one.
I can go on for a while about this program but it's just too nice to see it run on your machine. Try it out before you spend $100 or whatever $$ for other software. It works fine.
Best regards & 73

Good job Tom

Thanks to the previous review, I found the site for this free download. Good to see some good software for MAC OSX. Well done, Tom, you did a good job. I downloaded a copy last night and have been playing with it. Very easy to use - and quick entries, just a second or two to log a contact. It is still very new, so I'm sure Tom will add more features to this great program that already does great logging, supports awards, rig control (for some rigs - more rigs getting added), and more.

Not many logging software for the Mac X.
First, the price is right,
secondly, it has many features and some
rig control. No need to enumerate the feature
that can be read from the link above.
The author is very responsive with any
questions and/or suggestions.
Check out his other programs for the Mac X.
