WORKS FOR ME  Time owned: more than 12 months
HAVE USED MFJ ELECTRONIC KEYER PADDLE MODEL MFJ-422D FOR YEARS ALL OVER THE WORLD. WORKS FINE FOR ME...NO NEED FOR EXPENSIVE ITALIAN, ETC. KEYER. YES, THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST LONG SO I RUN IT ON MY 12V SUPPLY. TN? MFJ IS IN MS.

POS, Guys  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Installed a new battery at 3 pm and it's GONE GONE GONE by 8:30 pm.... with VERY light practice from a new iambic keyer. Only 2 screws hold the top cover (who in hell drilled the holes, not lined up with each other?). Very poor construction. MFJ, let's just give up and have your stuff made in China where the workers will get flogged if they make these kind of poor, simple errors... I want gear that works, Martin... can your TN people even chew gum and walk at the same time??

Nice keyer, poor quality control  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have owned the 407D keyer for about 3 years and use it frequently with a transceiver that does not have a built in keyer. The 407D works well and takes up little space.

I'll note that when the keyer arrived from MFJ and I removed the cover to install a 9 volt battery I found that the unit lacked a holder for the battery. The holder is referenced in the owner's manual. I guess someone on the MFJ assembly line forgot to install it. I bought an inexpensive 9 volt battery holder at Radio Shack and installed it by drilling a screw-hole in the chassis panel. An easy fix, but considering the price paid for the keyer MFJ should have included it.

I presently power the keyer using 12 VDC from the transceiver. The 407D rear panel includes a jack for this purpose.

I Have owned this keyer for over two years and it has performed very well. No problems whatever.
