Fascinating and A wake up call  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I first spotted the ad in July QST and filed it in my head as something I should read. Joined my local library last Saturday and went to the electronics session and I found this. For the last few nights I have been staying up late reading this - it's hard to put it down. The author became a ham at a young age and like so many followed a career in electronics but not the average kind of electronics. Marty is a legend when it comes to creating bugging devices and the equipment to find bugging devices. Later on he became an expert in building bomb detection equipment that is so important to U.S. forces overseas. My initial interest was in the techie side but pretty soon you will be fascinated with the goings on of the "letter agencies" (CIA, FBI, DEA, Secret Service etc). A little later you get quite concerned with how "our" intelligence community gets totally out of control. Front and center is the FBI who set out to destroy Mr. Kaiser because the FBI has been caught doing things they should not be doing. I have read quite a few books of this genre and the lesson is always you just cannot trust government. This is a timely lesson to the younger generation. No matter who is leading the government, the government functions with millions of people, not all of whom have our best interests at heart. Marty Kaiser is clearly a hero.
