Reviews Summary for Sennheiser HMD-46-3-6
Sennheiser HMD-46-3-6 Reviews: 1 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $585
Description: The HMD 46-3-6 is a lightweight and comfortable open air boomset originally designed for air traffic controllers, which works well as as a communications headset. It has ActiveGard TM, which protects the operator from the potentially harmful effects of an acoustic burst. Light weight and comfortable with patented two-piece automatic headband and soft cloth open-air ear pads which flip-around earphones allowing single-sided listening. Flexible noise-compensated dynamic boom microphone can be worn on either the left- or right-hand side and provides excellent speech transmission. It has a single-sided 1.85 m cable that is easy to exchange. May be available with PTT.
Product is in production.

Really Good Headset  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I am extremely pleased with the performance of his high quality headset. It is very lightweight and comfortable, and does not unduly pinch or bind the ears. The open-air earphone receivers provide excellent sound quality. The microphone has received many excellent audio reports. Other operators often spontaneously mention I have good audio when I use this microphone with my Ten-Tec OMNI-VII transceiver.

Solid, durable construction. I have been a product reviewer of microphones and related equipment for use with speech recognition software for at least the past 10 years, and, in my opinion, this is an exceptional tool for the job.

It is, however, a bit pricey, with an approximate street price of $300. It comes with an unterminated cable, meaning you must solder your own microphone and headphone connectors, or hire someone to do that for you, before you can use it with your rig.

Happy trails and good DX to you. //// James - K8JHR ////
