Good idea, but poor execution
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

The Red-Dee-2 Connect line is distributed by Powerwerx.com. Our ham club purchased four of these for power distribution in portable EOC communications boxes we are building. The overall idea is a good one. The product allows for the centralized connection of all the equipment in the box while retaining flexibility of configuration. I gave them 2 points for the design idea.
Unfortunately the manufacturing quality is poor. All four of the units were poorly glued to their base. They came unglued just from the handling during initial installation. If the powerpole connection insert comes loose from the base, the copper distribution buss is exposed presenting a risk of short circuit in the DC system. Additionally, one of the units had a powerpole socket with the internal terminal bent over so that it could not be used.
If they could clean up their manufacturing quality I would definitely rate these a 5 instead.
