Had trouble updating my FT950 so I sent it to Vertex-Standard (Yaseu). They updated the software for no charge (tech/bench time would have been $35.00 per hour) and shipped pre-paid UPS ground in less than two weeks! Now that's customer service. The only cost was my shipping the radio to them.

Yaesu after lightning damage

My Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V had several problems after lightning came through the cable line, into the cable modem, into the router, into two computers, and into the Mark V through the RS232 (CAT) cable. Everything in that line had to be replaced, and a few pieces after the Mark V were damaged as well.
The radio developed several computer-related problems, including the loss of its memory when the power was cycled (what frequency I was on for each band, whether or not keyer or speed processor was on, etc.) The computer control (RS232) was fried as well.
I sent the radio to Vetex and it came back quickly and good as new for a very reasonable price.

Good Job on FT-1000MP Repair/Upgrades

Hand-carried my Yaesu FT-1000MP up to Vetex. Besides repair (rig needed a new 9VDC regulator which cured up a whole host of apparent problems), they installed all known updates and a roofing filter. Also did a mini-alignment. Now, it's like I have a new radio! Very pleased with results, turn-around time, and costs. Would recommend Vetex for repair of Yaesu equipment in the 5-20 yr old range and especially for FT-1000's.

Yaesu Repairs and Upgrades

Bob, W4MYA, recently opened a new ham radio repair busines known as Vetex. Bob recently refurbished and repaired all of my FT-1000MP transceivers (seven of them!). He also installed key click, noise blanker and AGC modifications in each radio. The quality of his work was first rate and his price is very reasonable.
