Bullet Proof HT - Must Have!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Once you go commercial you can never go back to an Amateur radio! This unit is rock solid, not only in the way it’s built but the way it works and sounds. With the “high-gain” version of the optional HM-159SC speaker/mic, this radio is louder and clearer than any dispatch base station! Even without the optional speaker/mic the radio sounds great but with it you’re no match for any station (accepts for the issue of output power of course). I've owned Motorola before and I'll say that this radio sounds as good or better than a Motorola!!!

Sure you need to program it at home first because you can’t program on-the-fly but once you load whatever you need - up to the 512 channels, you’re ready to go. This HT has a solid front end, though I’m in upstate NY, I do pass by some repeater sites and hospitals with pagers and there’s no intermod! The audio is crisp, loud and clear both TX and RX. It really puts the average HAM HT to shame as far as selectivity and ruggedness goes. It’s without a doubt a cut above the rest. Look it up on line / Icom site and you’ll be able to read more about it.
