Good is Good Enough  Time owned: more than 12 months
This is a good speaker for mobile and portable rigs, and sounds good - and good is good enough for this application. I don't expect hi-fi sound out of my mobile rig... just clear, intelligible speech with no unwarranted or deleterious side effects. This speaker does the job, and has no downers (such as unwanted resonance or buzzing or hissing or vibrations). Low price, good value for the money.

Just MY take... / K8JHR /

Great speaker, great value  Time owned: more than 12 months
Great speaker that's built well for mobile use, with good clear sound that's not tinny like so many small speakers. Also works well in the shack, especially with FM radios although I prefer a larger "mellower" sounding speaker for SSB/CW.

The speaker is identical, other than the screenprinting on the front, to the /\/\ branded mobile speaker that's used with some of their LMR products.

Icing on the cake for this product is the very reasonable street price.

Sounds good, looks good  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I remember the Midland brand from waaay back in the 80's when I had a Midland CB and a couple of Midland branded speakers from Radio Shack. Always a solid product. Recently I was looking for an extension speaker for an FT-897D and found the Midland 21-406 on the shelf at Fry's ($19.99). Radio Shack only sells it through their web store (same price). Though billed as a CB and Marine speaker, the 21-406 sounds good in the ham shack. It is a rather large speaker, which suits me just fine, but may be a problem for smaller shack desks. A smaller, slightly different version exists, as well. The bracket/stand is a little awkward for desktop use; the speaker wants to fall forward in certain positions. I just set the speaker on its base and rotated the stand back out of the way. For mobile use, there are several mounting holes in the stand/bracket and the speaker comes with screws. Overall, sounds good, looks good!
